I have used this stick (and the baby labeled one - they are the same with different labels) for my kids for 5 years, and for myself. I use it for faces - it would be too much work to put it elsewhere because it does take a little effort to rub in. Zinc oxide is a broad spectrum physical barrier and not a chemical one, so it doesn't cause breakouts the way chemical sunblocks will. It also adheres and provides better protection in and out of the water and does not run into and sting the eyes. You do have to be careful to wind the stick back down before putting on the cap or it will get stuck in the cap if sitting outside in the heat. But if this happens, just use a chopstick to pull the stick back out after it cools down and stick it back in the base. Then be careful to wind it down after each use.

My doctor recommended a sunscreen that contains zinc oxide for superior protection against sunburn. This is the best sunscreen and I now use it myself. Yes, it takes some effort to rub it in, but it is well worth it when your kids have no sunburn at the end of the day. Wouldnt buy anything else.

Went to pull off cap for first time use and it was tuck in the cap. Completely pulled off stick. It crumbles too, looked like feta cheese. Don't buy this, stick with Neutrogena sticks.

This works pretty well for my toddler's face. Offers great protection and the stick is pretty easy to put on. It is also rated highly on the Cosmetic Database site and contains few nasty chemicals and offers good protection against sun damage. However, it doesn't rub in well so he does end up with a visibly whiter face, and it seems to trap oil/sweat so he starts to develop bumps on his face after a few consecutive days of use. To avoid this, I just use a different sunscreen (not a heavy zinc-based one) on his face on days when he won't be outside much or when it's overcast.
Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply: After 80 minutes of swimming or sweating. Immediately after towel drying. At least every 2 hours.
