It is economical, yet it is composed of simple, natural ingredients. The fragrance is fresh and clean (unlike Ivory that smells like citronella based bug repellent). It lathers better than any soap I have used, although it's lifespan is slightly less than I am accustomed to. In truth, a slight adjustment of how it's used is probably required. This soap requires far less rubbing and agitation than others to generate a plentiful lather. While I have been purchasing Ivory for my everyday use and Dove Sensitive for my little girl, I am switching us all to Kirk's. It is natural, safe, effective, and pleasing. Both my husband & I said that it made our skin feel irritated--it felt "burned" for about 5 mins. after using it. Would probably make a good hand soap, as it cleans & lathers well, but I won't use it again on my body. The smell is subtle but pleasant, and I like the way it lathers. Not available in stores any more, I'm so glad I can get it here! Best Uses Comments about Kirk's Original Coco Castile Bar Soap, Original, 3 ea: I bought this soap because my 9 month old daughter has sensitive skin and I wanted something gentle and natural to use for bathing her. Unfortunately, the scent is so strong and unpleasant to me I'm not able to use it as-is on her. I'll probably use some of it in home-made laundry soap and the rest I'll make into liquid soap and add some essential oils to it. Next time I'll buy the fragrance free bars. Comments about Kirk's Original Coco Castile Bar Soap, Original, 3 ea: If you like getting super clean, with no frills, no gimmicks, just fresh smelling and really clean, this is the soap for you. i've used this bar soap for many years. I also used it to bathe my children when they were young. It's very gentle and it got all the dirt off. I like the liquid "girly" body washes as much as the next woman but this soap is the truth and I use it when i want to be squeaky clean and fresh.
