I have never bought any natural soaps before so this was a new experience for me but I am quite pleased. When I opened the soap, I was surprised to see what color it was - a dark, icky green. I took a whiff and thought "Ew. Do I really want to WASH myself with this?" But I figured it deserved a chance to prove itself, so I gave it a try. I was surprised. It may have a light, unusual, slightly unpleasant smell (it's FRAGRANCE free, not scent free) but it doesn't leave the smell on your skin. The soap I used to use would leave my skin feeling very dry but this soap. I don't know if this soap moisturizes but I do know that my skin (even the skin on my face) is never dried out after using it, which is absolutely wonderful. I use this soap on my whole body, usually while showering or bathing, and it cleans effectively. The bar is large but I have only dropped it a couple of times while my usual soap seemed to get dropped once each use (and I'm really not that clumsy). I have five facial piercings (including a very sensitive microdermal) and I am able to use it on my face without worry of the soap irritating them. Also it's slimy, if you leave it wet it will get all soggy and slimy but that will go away one you start using it again with the washcloth. I'm not chemical friendly but was getting her ProActive. She ran out but I gave her one of my Kiss bars and a tub of Shea and she's SO happy. Her face looks great, even during her period. Eating better helps too but getting rid of junk you can't pronounce is a major step. I'm not a plain Jane, you can be stylish, healthy and pretty... Without SLS and garbage

It is moisturizing, lathers, great value, & one of the few companies not owned by a major corporation.

The 'olivey' scent is earthy, which is enjoyable to me. After drying off, no scent lingers actually. When I buy bars, I open the packages, so the soap can dry out. I think this makes a bar last longer in the shower.

I'm not sure if the soap is old but it smells of tar shampoo which I hate. I've used and made olive oil soaps before so I'm not sure why the smell is off. This soap is very moisturizing and makes my skin feal great. And you only smell the soap if you stick your nose up against it. Otherwise I do not notice it. This is a nice soap that is non toxic.
