The original product that was made in France was wonderful, worked well, smelled nice, and was very gentle to my eyes.
HOWEVER, the product is now made in the USA and NOT in France, and they've changed the formula completely. I just happened to still have my old bottle when I opened the new one. The new product smells more like a petroleum distillate and it stings my eyes.
The old ingredients were: water, centaurea cyanus flower water, PEG-12, sodium chloride, acid blue 3 (CI 42051), cocamidopropyl, betane, phenethyl alcohol, polyaminopropyl biguanaide, and trethanolamine.
The new ingredients are: water, butylene glycol, centaurea cyanus flower water, poloxamer 184, hexylene glycol, PEG-6, caprylic/capric glycerides, acid blue 3 (CI 42051), phenethyl alcohol, sodium chloride, and trisodium EDTA.
I'm not a chemist, but I presume the biting petroleum-y smell and the stinging is coming from all those different chemicals.
