If you go ebay right now you will find the smaller discontinued Pinaud Elixer Quinine shampoo for around $450 dollars and the larger discontinued size for around $1,000. Probably because Skyfall came out and everyone is going crazy for James Bond. James Bond called the Pinaud Elixer Quinine Shampoo the "Prince of Shampoo's" in the novel "Of Her Majesty's Secret Service". And we all know James Bond has style.

This shampoo is a worthy successor to the original Pinaud shampoo. It might even be a little better. It is rich with quinine and B vitamins which is great for thinning hair and may actually 'stop' hair loss not to mention it makes your scalp feel good and it smells great. The shampoo is a rich dark red color which indicates it is chock full of quinine. I don't have any hair loss problem but I like the smell and the way it makes my scalp feel. If you alternate shampoo's this would be great used alongside Nioxin. Whether you have thinning hair or not it is an excellent shampoo and should be a part of your grooming arsenal for any man or woman. It may be to my knowledge the last shampoo that contains quinine.

I do like this. I bought it to help my scalp. It has. My hair does seem to "feel" better. It's not a volumizing shampoo, though. It's more medicinal for scalp health. As far as reversing some hair thining that started when my scalp was hurting, that remains to be seen w/ time. But, my scalp did stop hurting; at times it stopped it, while other days it made the discomfort less.

I purchased this shampoo after reading reviews that it helps minimize hair loss, After about a week of daily use, the amount of hair in the drain was reduced by about 75%. It leaves my fine hair soft, shiny and full of body. Does not weigh my hair down and I can even skip conditioner. This shampoo would be perfect, but I just can't get over the scent! It smells like a strong men's aftershave or cologne, and not in an 'herbal' way, either. The scent stays on my hair long after drying, and I can catch whiffs of it throughout the day. Probably a good shampoo for men with thinning hair, but if you are a woman, try to smell it first before buying, or buy the small bottle to test it first. What a shame!

Doesn't look very commercial, but a great shampoo!

Advised by a doctor to reduce hair loss.

It works.

The smell is not bad, maybe not the best but does not bother me.

i have tried most shampoos over the years and i consistently come back to this. it is the only one that makes my hair feel manageable and gives it some body.

Tried this shampoo and the strenghthening balm today for the first time. They made my hair soft and easy to comb through, but I could hardly tolerate the overpowering and unpleasant scent. Both smell like a cheap men's aftershave, and the scent lingers in the hair even after it's dry.

This shampoo works wonders on my limp & lifeless hair,..when I notice my hair getting blah looking,..this brings it back to life. I also think it recharges the highlites.
