This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist who's been recommending it for years, but until now we had to order it from Canada since the UVB protection was not approved in the US until recently. It is a little heavy, however if you rub it between your hands before putting it on your face and neck the whiteness seems to absorb in very quickly. I do have fair skin and roseacea so perhaps the whiteness just doesn't show up so badly on me. I've noticed a huge change for the good in the look of my skin since using daily sunscreen. And using powdered mineral foundation over it has been no problem either.

I have had 3 melanomas and have been buying La Roche-Posay products from Canada for years because of the Mexoryl and have loved them. However, this product contains a heavy solution of Titanium Dioxide which leaves a nice white coating on your skin and if you rub it in too much it is not as effective. The SPF15 Daily Moisturizer is much better (no Titanium. Diox), but not enough protection if you will be out in the direct sun for any length of time. La Roche does offer other combinations of their products with Mexoryl and no Titanium Dioxide---skip this formula and be on the look out for these to reach the US or order from Canada.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

I love this product. It doesn't leave the skin dry, but works as an alternate to moisturizing when you are out in the sun. In full disclosure -- I have dry skin. If you have oily skin, you might not love this product.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

This is a great sunscreen if you apply it right after washing your face. Just use enought to cover your face and rub in. I found it helps to rub it in your hands for a few moments before you apply it.The Titanium Dioxide makes a nice base for applying makeup. I use powder foundation and it goes on nicely. If you apply too much it will make your face white and be hard to rub in. It provides good sun protection and has a matte finish. It does not feel heavy and lets your skin breath.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

I use the Anthelios lotion but was looking for a cream base. It was so dense that applying it was awful. Also, it did not absorb into the skin well.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

I like other products from this company, but this one is hard to deal with. I put it on and I look like I have clown makeup on. I tone it down with powder, but still have that white pallor. If may be best for staying in the sun for a long time if you aren't around small children who you might frighten!

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

I use daily under my moisturizer. It is a bit thick. But after a minute or so the warmth of my skin helps to soften it and then it rubs in just fine. I think I will try their sunscreen lotion next time.

Best product for my sensitive skin. No irritation at all. Most products with SPF over 15 sting and burn my skin, This one does not. Yes, there is a bit of a white residue, but can easily by covered by light makeup or tinted powder.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream, 1.7 oz:

I ordered this, like many, from Canada before the Mexoryl was approved in the US. It is a little thick, but I actually prefer that consistency to "runny". It is one of the few that doesn't result in eye sting and while I don't feel it is pasty white, I do use a liquid mineral foundation over it so no problem there. It seems to last longer than many in my experience and doesn't result in facial break out.
