I was skeptical the first time I purchased this, but after my first bottle, I was a believer. I use it every day, and while I don't expect Hollywood-white teeth, this is good for keeping stains from my daily cup of coffee and the occasional tea that I drink from forming on my teeth.

Plus, it's Listerine ... I've never had a complaint about that brand.

Before buying, I read the reviews here and they were mixed. Still, being a daily hydrogen peroxide user, I knew I wouldn't mind the taste and decided to try it. It has a very nice minty fresh taste and does not foam any more than hydrogen peroxide. I use the Listerine -- only one teaspoonful as recommended on the bottle -- after one minute I spit it out but do NOT rinse it out. Instead of rinsing I leave the residue in my mouth and use my Braun Oral B toothbrush with Crest Pro Health toothpaste. After brushing, I rinse thoroughly and then (being a creature of habit) rinse with hydrogen peroxide, then clear water and finally use my Act Restoring Rinse. I haven't had this Listerine for long, but it appears to be whitening gradually. I highly recommend this product.

This is a product that isn't all hype. It works and works great. I'm sure the price will go through the roof now - that it has such a following. I saw a difference the first time I used it. Couldn't wait to buy it for family and friends! They all love it too. Yes, it does foam, but who cares? It is important to read the instructions, as brushing after using it is what it says to do. I also found that extra rinsing is necessary.

Because of this product, I no longer buy the white strips!!! This product does a good job of whiteneing, with noticeable difference in a week!!

Drawback, I wouldn't take a FULL mouthful. There is some foaming action that occurs, and if you have a mouthful, there is no where for the foam to go but out!! Also, you must brush right after or you will have the foam lingering!!

*Lightly brush your tongue everyday
*Gargle with water diluted hyrdogen peroxide

Black tongue is just an overgrowth of bacteria and is caused by an upset in the natural bacteria/yeast balance in your mouth.

It can be caused by any type of mouthwash, antibiotics, coffee... its not just the Listerine brand that causes it. Just figured before you leave a bad review, be informed. I've gotten black tongue from the amoxicillian I took for strep throat- IT HAPPENS.

Otherwise, despite the sharp taste, this product is AMAZING and I'm super happy with it. :)

I bought this for two reasons - as a mouthwash and as an alternative to tooth whitening strips. I started off using it twice a day, but found that it irritated my gums. When I cut back to once a day, it was fine. It definitely works as a whitening treatment - I've seen results after two weeks - and I think it's fine as a mouthwash as well.

I would recommend this product.

My teeth are really sensitive to the regular whitening strips that you buy at your drugstore and I would have pain for days. But with Listerene, you get better results and it's really gentle. I could tell a diff. even after the first rinse! I would def. buy!

It works fine for freshening breath but it whitens all my teeth but this one spot I cant ever get.

It really whitens my teeth. I've had better tasting mouth wash but nothing works like this Listerine Whitening!
