I finally discovered a kit that does not leave a red tint to my hair. All over color is my natural dark blonde color and with the touch of highlights it adds the right amount of light color to keep the dark blonde from looking dull and boring.

This product is great. Loreal is a great name for over-the-counter color. I actually got this based on the fact that it is a level 7 with the purple toner built in. This is usually the case so as not to get orange tones. I actually just used the highlight part, did not use the all-over color that comes with it. I have medium brown to dark blonde natural color and the highlights came out great. Very subtle, but noticeable and gave my hair some thickness (hair is very fine). I have had highlights in the past couple months and this product did not damage my hair either. I did use a conditioning hair mask the following day after washing it and it looks healthy. This color is hard to find in stores, though, so glad it is available on drugstore.com.

I found this color in the store ONCE...was so glad to find it here. This is a color that looks natural especially if you need an ash tone. I don't use the brush inside. I use a cap so I can get to my roots, control highlights better. Lasts a good 7 weeks

Any hair coloring products that say ash tend to have purple in them which will NOT give gold tones. Worked fine for me when I wanted to go the opposite of the excess gold that I had in my hair. Great product.

I used this a month before my wedding hoping to make my medium brown hair a lighter, softer color with some nice golden highlights. What ended up happening was that the color turned my medium brown hair into dark red hair with medium red highlights. It looked horrible. Rather than lightening up my hair, it darkened it. It was almost as if they packaged it wrong. One and a half years later I decided to try the color again. Results? The same. My hair is dark red. I would not recommend this color. I have used many color versions in this line and love them. Steer clear of this if you have medium brown hair and wish for it to be lighter.

Although this seems to be the case with all 'ash' colors, on the test strand my dark-blonde hair ended up with a gray/green tinge to it.

I have a dark blonde hair that fades so the tips do not match the roots. I pull lots of red in response to hair dyes. I wanted to even up my roots and tips but give interest with highlights. The color was slightly lighter than my roots but darker than my ends. The first time I used the product, I used Biscotti 7.0 which was too warm, but still looked ok. The second time (6 weeks later) I used Vanilla Icing 7.1 and the color was perfect. The highlights were tricky. The first time, I didn't do enough highlights. Per instructions, I started in the front of my head, but couldn't apply enough highlights. The second time, I started in the mid back of my head and used hair clips to keep the hair up that was still to be highlighted. The brush bends easy but does the job. It's tricky to get the product even on the hair. It gets easier. I am thrilled with my hair. The highlights look very natural yet trendy. The process takes about 2.5 hours. I had some minor issues at first due to me learning.
