I started using this product (and my daughter) when it came out. I use it to enhance my dark blonde hair and for the highlights. The best part...it's all in one...color and highlights. It is easy to use, but does take about 1-1 1/2 hours from start to finish. But if you are going to color/highlight with any product, it is going to be time-consuming. I get lots of compliments on my color; even the girl who cuts my hair says my color looks great...why pay someone $100-$200?? Don't be scared to try...it is very easy to color your hair all by YOURSELF!

I have used this product for years, and it is absolutely awesome. I have my hair styled at a really nice salon, and both my stylist and the shop owner beg me not to tell other people about this product because they're afraid it'll put them out of the hair coloring business!! They even tell me that they couldn't do better than what I'm able to accomplish!! I really like the professional-looking results. Over the years, so many people have told me how great my hair color looks and that they can't believe I do it myself.

However, I'm concerned something's going on at L'Oreal regarding availability of this product. I just bought a case of it online here at Drugstore.com because I was not able to find Colour Experte on any store shelves ANYWHERE in my town today!! Thanks Drugstore.com for coming to my rescue!!

The color is really nice, natural looking, however you do need to practice applying the highlights just like the package says. I found it easier using my own fingers rather than the wand or the brush. On finer hair, the colour develops more quickly so you can end up with almost white hair around your face if you leave it on too long. I would recommend leaving a day or two between applying the base color and the highlights, as other reviews have suggested. This particular shade looks great on the box but I found it looked too 'golden' blonde, I prefer cooler ashy looks so I will probably try a different shade next time.

before using this color, go to l'oreall's website and use their "find your dream color" tool from the hair tab on their home page. it will ask you about your natural color, your current color, your hair type and the color you desire. the tool was reallly helpful to me. they will also explain how to apply it for the best results.

my long, naturally dark blonde/light brown hair is thick and color treated a lighter shade of blonde. it came out fine after using this product. i used 2 boxes. i used the all over color on night 1, gave my hair a day off, then used the highlighter. didn't use the flimsy wand. i got better results using my fingers (with gloves on of course!) to apply the mixture to several thin strands all over my head. the all over color did appear to turn my hair a bit grey before applying the hightlights, but after applying the hightlights, washing and conditioning my hair, it looked great.

I have dark blond hair and chose this product because I wanted to lighten my hair subtly and add ash highlights.

Instead my hair is reddish brown with copper highlights. I had to re-dye my hair.

Everyone' hair is different, but this color is misrepresented as being cool.

Plus, it's time-consuming and very, very smelly.

My hair had been dyed medium neutral blonde (2x) over platinum this month, and it had started washing out at the ends when I applied the Couleur Experte. Knowing that iridescent shades, such as Feria blondes or any ash tone, had turned purple on my white hair before, I hoped the fillers would balance these weird tones. Washing the base out, I was sad to see a mucky shade of purple gray on my faded ends, but STUNNED when my hair dried and they disappeared, and I was left with a shiny, ash blonde base. With the highlights (the new tool is a great improvement, by the way) everything looks naturally multi-tonal. My only recommendation is wait a day or two and deep condition before highlighting.

These kits are actually pretty decent for the price. I've used a couple different ones before. I've learned though, with the highlights, put it on thick and leave them on for the maximum time. And it's much easier if you have someone to help; my husband does it for me and they always come great.

This color is cooler than most, so if you want a golden result it may be a bad choice. I darkened my dyed/highlighted very light golden blonde (which is naturally a very dark red brown) to this shade. I did not have visible roots before I began, and the base color result is very cool and uniform. A word of warning: with very ashy shades, you run the risk of turning very blonde hair greyish, and be sure not to use at-home products on damaged hair.
Overall, I really liked the result. The kit was easy to use, and my only complaints are I would have like to have more highlights, and the "mascara wand" applicator was flimsy. The highlights look professionally done, but it helps to have a "good eye" for doing a baliage ("paint on") technique. I think I will add more highlights with their Creme Lights line.

I don't think the highlighting process in these kits works well. I've tried several different shades, and my hair just does not seem to take the color well, even though I've never had problems with other products. I'm a golden blonde and thought this would be a little change, but my hair ended up looking gray and nothing like the colors on the box. I think next time I want highlights, I'll go to the salon.
