Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

I bought this color because I've dyed my hair the midnight moon black in the past and it came out super dark and had a gorgous blue tint to it and I recently let my hair go back to my natural golden brown color but I missed the black hues. I found the violet and thought that it would turn out as awesome as the midnight moon blue just with a pretty purple. Boy was I wrong. I went from a brown to a burgundy and it doesn't look a thing like what it says. Its suppose to be soft violet black but there's no black in my hair at all. I wouldn't waste your money on this one. Go and get the midnight moon black. I was so sad to see that it turned out burgundy.

Grey's come out pink and the rest of the hair does not get the tint. Don't bother buying this color.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

I am VERY disappointed in this. I used to use a Loreal Excellence color that was violet black that I could only find in the UK and Canada. Unfortunately that was no longer available the last two times I went to the UK and this was bought as an eagerly awaited replacement. Sadly, as others have said, it's misrepresented. It's not violet black at all. It's a maroon that is pretty much the same as a whole lot of other colors on the market. There's no reason to buy this, as far as I'm concerned. If you want a dark red, buy something that tells the truth.

          Darkest Violet???

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

My hair naturally is dark ash blonde, but I've found over the years that since I've grown older, darker hair is more becoming. I have been searching for a LONG time for the perfect DARKEST violet you can get. That's not RED violet, but VIOLET. I used Feria Midnight Ruby for several years and really liked it. Then L'Oreal stopped making it temporarily. I let my natural color grow back and got all the red cut out, so my hair was virgin when I used a Number 2 Clairol red violet on my hair. HORRIBLE. Pale, boring and faded to almost pink.
Then I discovered this "new" L'Oreal Feria Midnight Star - Violet Black it said. I was SO excited!!! So this color went over a VERY faded red (about 6 weeks). The color on the box was EXACTLY what I had been looking for!
Alas, my hair is a very dark red-violet. Not unattractive at all, but I suspect will fade to a dull red violet - which I hate.
I need a PURE darkest number 1 VIOLET and I suspect I will have to strip it out first and then apply a toner - which I didn't want to do, but I am left with no choice it seems. I doubt I will re-color with this one. Sorry.

I'm 56 with graying natural black hair. All in the front and around my face. This product not only covered the gray but strongly highlighted my roots. Which is what I wanted it to do. I don't see a change in the rest of my hair,,,it's still black. The highlights are purplish {not burgundy} and do fade after a few washes. I would love the same effect with a RED.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

I started out with brown hair with heavy blond highlights. The box of dye turned my hair dark magenta/purple. I thought I could almost pass it off at work for dark auburn/purple. My friends loved it and I'm 31. I'm a techy in the rocket biz so it's not public relations.

I loved the color but professionally, I was going for the look on the box cover, I knew it wouldn't fly for long. I went into a beauty shop and they applied black/drk. brown on top of the purple.

I love, love, love it now.

So, my advice to anyone using this product is to buy it knowing it's a 2--coloring-step dye process. It might be best used for highlights with foils in addition to a plain old black.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

This is definitely NOT the color to use if you have any intention of actually dyeing your hair black. My hair is naturally dark brown/black and this product essentially turned it a purple-ish magenta color with no hint of black and not even close to what the photos on the packaging predicted.

I would only recommend this color if bright purple or magenta is the color you're actually going for, not black. And even then only if your hair color is uniform. This is not the stuff for covering root lines or gray hair.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

My roots are pink. My hair is not anywhere near violet, nor any hint of black. I thought this color would be true to what it said violet black. My hair was a faded red before I used this dye and it barely darkened my hair. It smells, it burned my skin, my hair felt horrible. If it was true to color then I probably would have let those things slide because I've been searching for the perfect dark violet. But no. [$]was way too expensive for something that did not deliver.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Feria Midnight Collection Haircolor, Violet Soft Black, 1 ea:

Starting Point: 20 something female My just-past-shoulder-length hair was darkest brown w/ some spots that were lighter, due to poor coverage with the last color I used. My hair is fine, somewhat damaged and thinning, due to medication.

I was intrigued by the "Violet Soft Black" title of this hair color and bought two boxes (BOGO 50% off) so I would be sure to get complete coverage on all my hair. Used about half of the second box to get full coverage.

Places where the gel dye touched my skin looked bright red... I was worried the color would be too warm on my cool complexion... I left on for 30 mins and rinsed with my head upside down in the tub. My hair felt dry and rough :-( The conditioner is not silky smooth cream, it's like a thick paste and it takes nearly the whole tube to get it distributed through your hair and offers very little detangling/conditioning at all - that alone will keep me from repurchasing this brand - I consider the conditioner in hair color kits to be one of the best parts of the process! They're usually so lush and silky - this one sucked.

My hair felt a tangled and strawlike mess after getting out of the shower. And the water never did run completely clear from rinsing, but I couldn't stay in there all night. I was concerned that I had damaged my hair so I immediately applied a thick dose of Wen deep-conditioning treatment, wrapped my head in plastic wrap and a towel and went to bed with my fingers crossed.

This morning, rinsed away the conditioning treatment, water still running red. Hair felt a bit better, more manageable anyway. Followed with Suave conditioner and got out (water still not clear) I applied a color protecting leave-in and got ready for work. (Pink stains on my towel)

Now, as it's almost dry, I can see the color is mostly true to desciption. But my hair is frizzy, not silky smooth and shimmery. The box promises "3X the highlights!" and due to the lackluster frizziness, I can't tell if there are any tonal differences in my hair or not. But I don't hate the color.... just the condition it left my hair in. I will be babying my hair for a long time until some normalcy returns to my condition... Think I'm gonna swear of chem kits and try henna next time.
