It was easy to use and the directions were easy to follow. Be careful to clean up as soon as you spill. Its stained my tub, and the grout on my floor. The smell was pleasant at first but about 5 minutes in it was overpowering. My hair is still soft and doesn't feel damaged but the color was darker than the picture on the box. It almost looks black. You can see hints of brown when the light hits it right. It's a little more glossy than I was expecting, slightly unnatural looking. I didn't care for the tube of conditioner it came with. I had to use a lot of it just to run my fingers through my shoulder length hair. Its only day one so I'm hoping the shade and gloss will soften up a bit.

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color, Darkest Brown Espresso 3, 1 ea:

I just turned 30 (for the 11th time ;-). I keep tweezing the increasing number of white hairs showing up along my temple and crown. I think I'm loosing the battle. I figured that it was time to seek out an alternative. I haven't dyed my hair in over 10 years, so I was more than a little hesitant. In my teens & 20's, I'd probably tried every shade of red and reddish brown available whether it suited me or not, but those days are gone. I wasn't brave enough for permanent color, yet, so I thought something that gradually washes out would be a good place for me to start. I just wanted to match my natural color (more or less), so that no one would be staring at me strangely, or asking ever so politely "Did you do something different to your hair??!" Though my hair hasn't been permed or dyed in 10+ years, it does have quite a bit of damage from heat-styling. It can get really dry and frizzy. I'm constantly applying leave-in conditioners, de-frizzing serums, smoothing balms, deep conditioning masks, etc. My natural color is deep, dark brown like a shot of expresso w/ some natural mahogany that shows up in the light. It's the darkest brown there is w/o being black. I have Asians in my family with jet black hair, but my hair has never ever been black. I definitely didn't want black hair. Unfortunately, I chose this color, as the picture on the box seemed most similar to my natural hair color. Another reviewer of Iced Chestnut Brown Iced Chocolate 4AR said that she mixed 4AR with Dark Chocolate (4?), and got a medium dark chestnut color result. I didn't want a medium brown, but I liked the idea of lightening and reddening this shade (Darkest Brown Expresso 3), so I mixed it with the 4AR. I have A LOT of hair. It's thick and about mid-back length past my bra strap. I used 2 boxes of Healthy Look, and probably would've used more if I'd had it. It probably took me longer than 10 minutes just to apply it to all of my hair, and it probably stayed on for more than 10 minutes, too, due to trying to wipe up the spills and splats on the bathroom counters and floor and the drips down my face and such. Maybe if I'd been better prepared for the mess in the bathroom, I could've stayed closer to the 10 minute recommendation, although I wouldn't have thought that an extra 5 minutes or more could've caused such a hair disaster!! It took FOREVER to rinse all that color gel out of all of my long, thick hair! Yes, this stuff stains the tub and the tile and the grout. My husband walked in, saw the tub, the shower walls, looked very worried, and walked out without saying a word. When I thought I rinsed all the color out, my hair felt exactly like straw. I hoped the included conditioner was all it was hyped up to be. I gathered some of the hair on the tub floor into a mass and looked at it. It looked black! Very very black!! BLUE BLACK!! Like shiny Halloween vinyl!! AAHHH!!! I decided not to wait for it to dry. I washed it twice, saw the suds turn color, and had high hopes that my hair would not be black after all. By then, my hair was so dry, and I was so tired of being in the shower, rinsing, washing, rinsing, washing . . . I used a deep conditioning mask, followed by the included Healthy Look conditioner. My hair STILL felt dry and rough, but I wanted to be done. Color was still bleeding from my wet hair onto the tub floor. Still, I gave up. When, my hair dried, it was indeed very, very black, like Halloween vinyl. BLUE BLACK. No hint of the brown color on the box. No hint of mahogany anywhere. Just black. After having to go out in public like that the next day, I came home and washed my hair 4 times with Dawn dish soap, hoping that since it was "semi-permanent" hair color, I could wash enough of it out to get back to some kind of dark brown. The Dawn suds did look a little dirty. I crossed my fingers. Another deep conditioning mask, followed by more of the Healthy Look conditioner, and at least, my hair felt a little better, but when I got out, and my hair was dry, my hair was STILL BLACK. This "semi-permanent" is not washing out!! Maybe if I were 15, I could just buy some black clothes and be "goth" for the next year or two, but at my age, this is SO INAPPROPRIATE and unflattering, to say the least. I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I wanted to throw a tantrum. {{SIGH}} None of that will help me now. In other reviews, I saw a product called Color Oops mentioned. I decided to get a haircut, and at least, get some of my dry ends removed. I went all over town looking for 2 boxes of Color Oops, because I still have a lot of hair, and 1 box isn't going to cut it. I found 1 box in 1 store, but had to search every store near me to find a 2nd box. I probably won't try the color removal kit today. I'm not looking forward to the application process, 20 minute wait time, rinse, wash, and then, rinse for another 20 minutes. I've spent entirely too much time in the shower the past couple of days. If Color Oops works, at least, I have something to look forward to tomorrow morning -- a return to my natural hair color. Hopefully, I won't have to color again to get my natural color back. This was such a utter disaster that I'm scared to do it again. Wish I had followed the advice of a reviewer of John Frieda's Precision Foam Color in Brilliant Brunette Dark Chocolate Brown 4BG, who said, "A word to the wise about ANY brunette hair color if you are a beginner, which I am NOT: the color will almost ALWAYS come out MUCH darker than anticipated. TRUST ME on this one. My natural color is a deep, deep brown, almost black, with reddish undertones, and this color matches me perfectly. WHEN IN DOUBT, GO ONE SHADE LIGHTER!!!! You can always go darker, but it is very difficult to lighten up too dark hair." As a sidenote, I kind of hate the smell of the Healthy Look conditioner. It smells of a really cheap, uber flowery, drugstore cologne, the likes of which, I wouldn't buy for my worst enemy. Good luck! May you not end up looking like Morticia, death warmed over, as I now do (unless that's your goal)! Not many can pull this look off!

Comments about L'Oreal Paris Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color, Darkest Brown Espresso 3, 1 ea:

I had been using Natural Instincts for almost 20 years. However, now that I'm over 70% gray, NI does not do a good job covering my grays and white roots. I had to leave it on 45 minutes for the color to absorb which ended up making my hair dry and dull. I decided to try Healthy Look. BIG DIFFERENCE! I left it on for 15 minutes after I applied the whole bottle which took about 15 minutes (same as with NI). The result is even, absolutely gorgeous, healthy, soft, shiny dark brown. It works well like a permanent but is gentle, semi-permanent without the ammonia. The conditioner is flowery, maybe too strong for some but I like and prefer it over the smell of freshly dyed hair. I am kicking myself for being loyal to NI for too long. I love, love Healthy Look.

I used to use Loreal Casting Espresso years ago and this new Loreal non-permanent Healthy look is a MUCH better formula. Same color result but seems gentler and rinses out more easily. BUT the after-color conditioner which they provide in a generous tube absolutely stinks of BO masked with cologne. So if you don't mind having to buy your own post-color treatment, then it"s worth a try.

OK I was a big Clairol Natural Instincts fan, but I wanted to change things up afte using it for 10 years. I decided to try this product. I have white hair along the crown line and temples and my natural hair color is very dark. I don't feel comfortable with permanent dyes b/c I'm only 30. I tried this stuff and I loved how it colored my whites and it smells great. I did notice that the recommended 10 minutes did not work for me: I leave it on for about 30 minutes. Also, I found that I had to add "No Gray" in order for it to really cover the whites. Sometimes the color washed out easily and I don't think it's so much the product as it is my stubborn hair. I think it's a great product if you don't want to use permanent color yet -- just be sure to add "No Gray" if you feel the first time didn't get "all" the whites. Leaves your hair in great condition.
