All I can say is the pot these reviewers bought must have been stored at the wrong temperature at some point and it ruined it (like re-frozen melted ice cream). My pot was perfect and smooth as silk. The pink coloring is more like the pastel color some lotions have -- it doesn't color the skin at all, so it is suitable for dark skin too. Maybe my expectations were to high, but the first thing that dissappointed me was the very small container that it came in. Then, when you open the lid to apply it, you have to dip your finger into it, getting primer under your fingernails that is usually wasted. So, the packaging was not ideal for the small jar that it came in. I have been using it under my makeup daily and it does, in fact, make my skin smooth, but I have tried another primer that is much better as far as the actual texture it leaves on your skin. The magic perfecting base leaves a "less than magic" feeling with it's extremely thick texture, similar to LARD, and leaves a less than appealing powdery film upon the skin. It is also difficult to distribute the thickness of the primer across your face without pulling too hard on delicate skin areas of the face, which is something that you do not need to avoid fine lines as you age from daily use. It DOES leave my skin feeling smoother than it was before, but has caused my pores to become clogged and led to breakouts in places outside of my t-zone area (such as the cheeks and chin areas.) And I don't even have oily skin. I would say that this product does not live up to the hype, the small portion that you pay for is really not worth your hard earned money when there are much better primers out there. Wow. WOW. You must prep skin first- scrub, tone, moisturize and then this goes on nicely. My mineral powder goes on even smoother than before!

It goes on heavy, like spackle, and has a mask-like finish. It smoothes away pores and lines, but it's just so heavy. I tried to like it. I'll go back to "pricier" primers, which really aren't that much more when you do the math based on the size of the container. Skip this purchase. Pros Cons

This last time I bought it the consistancy has changed. It used to be very creamy and now it has a whipped consistancy that does not go on smoothly at all. I won't be buying this primer anymore.

Comments about L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base, .5 fl oz: This is my first time using a primer, so I admittedly probably used too much the first time and it ended up being very clumpy, instead of covering my fine lines it got clumped up around them. Since then I have learned to use very sparingly, and it seems to have much better coverage. The consistency is almost like whipped yogurt, so that took some getting used to.

It makes them a little less visisble. As a primer it works okay if used with oil control lotion. Without some type of oil control, it doesn't hold up well. It does leave a powdery film also so you have to use a light touch.
