It reminds me of a very natural light brown hair color without being "mousy" and without the salon prices. The problem is that you can't buy this color in many retail stores and I prefer a crème hair color, but Loreal doesn't make it in their Excellence brand. Luckily, I've found it on Drugstore.com.

It covers the gray very well. If the conditioner didn't come in the package, I doubt I could use the product because the initial feeling of the hair is very wire-y. I've tried a few different shades and they all have the super strong chemical smell that takes a couple of days for me to get out, but it looks great and it lasts a long time.

The only thing that even comes close to the color I want are my roots and the rest of my hair is still dark brown. The only other thing I can try is a dark blonde shade and hope that it will lighten my hair to a color I like. This shade didn't cover the gray at my ears and temples,so after a washing or 2, I will be gray again. I am too old to have dark hair. If anyone has any suggestions, I sure would appreciate any help I can get as I cannot afford salon treatments.

I had previously used a "warm" color on my hair which faded into a dull reddish-brown (yuck). I used this and while there is a tiny bit of red to the color (at least on my ash-blonde/graying roots) I find it to be THE best match for my natural color. I just wish it lasted longer. It's only been 5 days and my grays are starting to show a little. Guess I'll have to use it about every 2-3 weeks. It's worth it for the price and color. Much cheaper than going to a salon!

Not too light, not too dark & no red. I have always loved Preference but could never find that perfect color. The perfect color between dark blonde & light brown. And the Preference conditioner that comes with it is awsome!
