Common uses for Lovaza
Lovaza 1gm is a lipid-regulating agent used for treating patients who have very high triglyceride levels. It is used in addition to a low-fat diet.

Before using Lovaza
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Lovaza 1gm. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking, especially if you are taking estrogen, certain diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide), or beta-blockers (eg, metoprolol or atenolol). These medicines may sometimes increase blood triglyceride levels. If you take any of these medicines, talk with your doctor before starting Lovaza 1gm. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (eg, warfarin). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including blood clotting problems, liver problems, pancreas problems, obesity, thyroid problems, diabetes, consuming large amounts of alcohol, allergies (including fish, fish oil, or soy), pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Lovaza 1gm.

Directions for Lovaza
An additional patient information leaflet is available with Lovaza 1gm. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this information. Follow the directions for using Lovaza 1gm provided by your doctor. LOVAZA 1gm MAY BE TAKEN WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. STORE LOVAZA 1gm at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not freeze. Do not store in the bathroom. Take Lovaza 1gm regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking Lovaza 1gm at the same times each day will help you to remember. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF LOVAZA 1gm, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.

Cautions for Lovaza
DO NOT TAKE LOVAZA 1gm if you have had an allergic reaction to it or to any ingredient in this product, including soy. IF YOU HAVE A SENSITIVITY OR ALLERGY TO FISH, contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking Lovaza 1gm. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED without checking with your doctor. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including liver function, blood cholesterol, triglycerides, and low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking Lovaza 1gm. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use Lovaza 1gm. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Lovaza 1gm. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE DRINKING ALCOHOL with Lovaza 1gm. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Lovaza 1gm during pregnancy. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF LOVAZA 1gm IS FOUND in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Lovaza 1gm, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Lovaza
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Lovaza 1gm include back pain, burping, flu-like symptoms (eg, fever, headache, muscle aches, or tiredness), taste changes, or upset stomach. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; signs of infection (eg, fever, chills, or persistent sore throat); sudden shortness of breath; sudden severe headache, vomiting, dizziness, or fainting; changes in vision; numbness of an arm or leg; or severe stomach pain. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Lovaza 1gm is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

FOLLOW THE DIET AND EXERCISE PLAN provided by your doctor. DO NOT SHARE LOVAZA 1gm with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE LOVAZA 1gm for other health conditions. KEEP LOVAZA 1gm out of the reach of children and pets. IF YOU WILL BE USING LOVAZA 1gm FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
