I dont usually write reviews for anything but after reading mixed reviews of the mangroomer (back version) and ordering it I felt that I should add my results to the mix.
First of all, the hair on my back is light to moderate so its not overly heavy or thick by any means, but the mangroomer actually shaved/clipped all of it off neatly and quickly. A lot of people have complained about the red marks it leaves on the skin, but I think thats just because your technique needs improvement. I used short strokes sometimes going back and forth and not pressing down too hard onto my skin when I could help it. After my first time I did have a couple red lines on my back but really because I misjudged an angle or position and I dug the clipper head into my skin harder than I should have. It took me 12 minutes to clear the back hair off completely in just the first attempt.
The great thing about this clipper is that I have used it successfully on my shoulders and the heavier hair on the insides of my thighs as well as my back. Its easy and fast. The only places Id be concerned about guys are the privates and, even though it did an OK job, it still managed to nick a spot in a delicate place because its a bit more heavy duty than you need for the manparts. Id stick with a razor or less intrusive electric product.
One reason I shave is because I am a bodybuilder and I need the muscles unobstructed by hair. I used to have to pay for unpleasant waxing or beg a friend to shave my back. The mangroomer has completely freed me from any of that fuss and now all it takes is a few minutes every couple weeks to get my back smooth and clear of unwanted hair.
Overall Id have to give this thing a big thumbs up and considering its price is less than one waxing session Id recommend it to any guy to at least give it a try. (Just go slow and use a mirror, especially the first time)

This is such a simple idea. Anybody could have marketed it. Too bad it was this company. I hadnt shaved in a while. It was very painful on my long hair. I actually couldnt finish with it. I normally use a beard trimmer. I expected this to have a similiar cutting head. It does not. As long as you keep up you grooming this item should be bearable. I guess I want a little more than that out of a product.

The cutting head moves back & forth but it doesn't trim hair. Tried it dry .. even on my forearm it doesn't work. I read other reviews and purchased ... wasted my[$]. Very dissapointed.

If you have back hair, you have just found the best invention of your life!!!! Without a doubt, this shaver is the perfect machine for sheding your back hair and no help from anyone. The handle sets toi whatever length you want and you just position it where you need it. I reccommend using it in front of the mirror to not miss any spots. Great product and buy it.

I'm a big guy with short arms so reaching the hair on my back is just about imossible. I've gone so far as to hold a clipper by the cord and dangle it behind my bak to reach the hard spots. Not very effective! While I didn't expect this product to shave as close as a blade it still provides a close enough shave that I'm comfotable walking around without my shirt on.

this product is only good for pulling hair and pinching skin. it was only useful when i had assistance. this product left red irritated skin marks where it pulled hair and cut my skin.

This is a great product and I was skeptical at first. There are a few ways to get the best performance from it. Slow, light, even strokes; don't press very hard; repeated passes over the area and it will not leave any marks or red scratches. Just a smooth back and shoulders. I'm so glad I found it!
One negative; it should have been made a bit larger. That would have made it easier to reach all the trouble spots. If you're a big guy, this might be a bigger issue.
