I bought this product because, at the time I ordered, Maybelline's Volum' Express TurboBoost was not available: sadly, this product cannot hold a candle to Volum' Express, whose coverage, definition, and lengthening abilities are excellent. Instead, Define-a-Lash requires multiple coats to provide any sort of coverage, leaves lashes looking stubby, and is very difficult to remove, even with expensive eye makeup remover. The brush has an odd shape and adds nothing to the mascara experience. I would not recommend this product.

It's just okay. I usually use the pink tube and also tried this light blue tube (sorry can't remember the name!) Those are okay but better than this one. This coats, but doesn't really add thickness.

The one time I managed to apply this fast enough, it looked beautiful. But as the other reviewer mentioned, it dries very fast, and if you are still applying more mascara while the first layer has dried, you end up with crunchy lashes. The one time I managed to get my lashes layered before they dried, they looked beautiful. Long, thick, feathery (not crunchy at all). But I've not been able to duplicate that feat. All the others times I've ended up with brittle looking lashes.

Well, I just followed the instructions, ie to quickly apply one coat after another as the fromula dries fast. In fact, it dries very fast!
It separated my lashes very well, so they didn't bunch up all together. If I wanted my lashes to appear thicker I just needed to apply more coats.
What I didn't like about it though was the fact that it dries to a stiff and crispy finish!! My lashes looked kinda fried and unnatural, and this was only after 2 coats..
Removing it was a pain as well. I lost a few lashes in the process. This was how stubborn it was.
While it does define and voluminises, I do not like the very stiff, drying finish and hard to remove factor. So I wouldn't be buying it again.
Sweep brush upwards from root to tip to separate individual lashes and to achieve definition and volume. Continue building lashes until you reach your desired look. Do not let dry between coats. Repeat for lower lash line.
