I use a volumizing mascara (either Diorshow or Clinique High Impact) and then use this one to define the smaller lashes on the inner corners of my eyes, the tips of my middle lashes, and to add a little extra oomph to those on the outer corners. I don't use this mascara on its own as it dosn't add enough volume for me and smudges a little. If I had thick eyelashes, though, I think that this would be it for me. If my eyes get teary, it does seem to smudge a lot, but on the other hand it is easy to remove with a natural eye makeup remover like Bodyshop product. Best Uses Comments about Maybelline Lash Discovery Washable Mascara, Very Black, .16 fl oz: This mascara wasn't awful. It didn't clump. The little brush made it easy to maneuver. It also had great black pigmentation that really made my lashes stand out. It helped keep lashes curled better than most mascaras. However, it had a tendancy to "glue" lashes together. Instead of getting lots of plush lashes, I ended up with a few spikey lashes. I think this is because the brush applies way too much product. If I took the time to wipe off the brush, apply it in quick upward strokes (don't wiggle the brush, it just makes a gloppy mess), and then brush through with a comb, I could get my lashes to look nice. Taking it off was also an issue. Since it loaded on so much product, I would wash it off at night and still have major racoon eyes in the morning. Overall, it's a decent mascara that just requires too much work.  Pros

I can use for a long time before the mascara shows evidence of drying out. Ladies, they all will dry out eventually but this one does not do it as quickly as some I have used. The brush is perfect for carefully applying just enough mascara and getting good separation of lashes. The formula is less likely to clump than any of the several mascaras that I have tried so you don't get thick spider-legs for lashes. Unfortunately, the washable formula can smear if you cry or rub your eyes a little, but it is still my favorite non-waterproof mascara for everyday. I have been wearing it for many years. I get compliments on my lashes too. Pros

My only compliant, "Very Black" is the only shade available in this formula. Maybelline, please create both dark brown or soft black. I've received some many compliments on how long my lashes look and that's why I will continue use this product. Pros

Comments about Maybelline Lash Discovery Washable Mascara, Very Black, .16 fl oz: I like the small brush, because it's easy to control, and doesn't deposit too much product on my lashes. I can use the brush to get the defined look I want without having to use a lash comb as a second step. Some say the product is too wet, but I don't have this problem. I can manipulate it with the brush to get the definition I want without it drying up as I go. I find large brushes a bit cumbersome, and I am more likely to smear mascara on my lids while applying. I have naturally thick and long lashes, so I don't need or want a mascara that builds extreme length or volume, at least not for regular daily wear. I've tried lots of other mascaras that I also like, but I keep going back to Lash Discovery.
