this little palette is unbelievable...sooo versatile. I can use it for work, or layer it more and make a super smokey eye but not over the top. The colors are taupe-ish, not either gray or brown. It's a beautiful combo of both, so you can use it to go out or work or both. And it's compact enough to take anywhere. I have every other eyeshadow around - NARS, the urban decay naked palette, bobbi brown, make up forever, chanel, dior, but this beats them ALL!! HIGHLY recommend. I have brown eyes and brown hair and fair skin, but I think this would work on anyone.

I am an older woman in my mid 50's
I loved the colors and based on other reviews I thought I'd try it
However I am not into the "sparkles and glitter look"
And though some reviews said they were few, I found this to have to many for me

I've been looking for new eye shadow for a while, and this is the best I've come across. The guide that come on each color helps to know where to use the different colors, which is a plus. Great product.

These shades are way too dark for paler-skinned people. Go with one of the lighter quads.
I used an eyeshadow primer because I had read so many reviews about the creasing/fading problem. I used a light hand/application & it still looked like I had two black eyes.

I like trying brown palettes of eyeshadows and I LOVE the colors in the Nataral Smokes palette! The color combos are just perfect and I love that this also includes the dark brown eye liner.

V nice colors. Good for everyday use. Find it easy to apply and remove. Colors are not very pigmented so prepare to layer. Used with Loreal Decrease and lasted about 4-5 hours on a hot day (shopping, avg 28-30degrees). Normal lids.

I've worn only brown and taupe eye shadows (the best for my blue eyes) for at least 25 years, so I consider myself something of an expert on those tones. The earth-toned palette I'd been using was beginning to seem a bit too reddish, so I was looking for a cooler taupe palette without excessive sparkliness (I am, after all, a bit over 21!), and this one filled the bill nicely. The colors are just the right blend of brown and gray to set off blue eyes without accentuating ruddiness.

Shades from the top left: The lid shade is a bit sparklier than I would like, but the glitter isn't that noticeable when the shadow is applied. The crease shade - what I use the most of - has even less. The brow bone shade and the outer corner shade are completely matte. I use the outer corner shade as eyeliner. There is a helpful diagram on the bottom of the package showing where to apply all four shades to get the intended look.

Don't be fooled by the cheap-looking package. Maybelline really does make some good stuff.
