Comments about Medela Harmony Manual Breastpump, 1 ea:

I use the Ameda purely yours electric double pump for work but forgot a part one day so ran to the store and bought the Medela Harmony manual pump. It took me about 20 minutes on both sides to get 5oz at which point my hand was pretty tired so I stopped and pumped the remaining later. It did the job but the suction seemed poor as I could get double that amount with the electric. I used it again a few days later thinking it would be a decent pump for occasional use at home as I mostly breastfeed so I could leave my electric at work but after that initial use, I could barely get an ounce per session. I was able to get more out by hand expressing or going back to my electric. I wanted to like this pump but I just didn't find the suction power strong enough. Maybe I just got a defective unit but I would've expected better quality with a Medela product.

I have this pump, an older single electric, and the symphony adaptor kit for a shared hospital grade pump at work. The single electric was banned by my husband for being too noisy, it was also uncomfortable. The harmony is quiet and works well, especially when breasts are full. I use this at home for about 3 bottles per week and use a symphony for about 12 bottles per week. I use this with a 27mm regular breastshield from medela. I recently went on a camp out without my baby and wouldn't have gotten through it without this little pump.

I had one of these and LOVED it with my younger son. I sold it, as we were done having kids...then along came our daughter lol I bought another one, and it lasted only a couple of months before the soft clear plastic part in the handle tore and it became ineffective. I bought another one, and now only a couple of months later, this one has started to tear and lose suction also. It's awesome and easy to use when it works, but there is obviously some flaw in the quality of the materials, or the construction. I am so disappointed, because it is a great pump. One time I could understand it tearing...but on 2 in a row? I will be looking for a different brand of manual pump!

Comments about Medela Harmony Manual Breastpump, 1 ea:

Initially, I liked this pump better than the Lansinoh manual because it is easier to pump but then it loss suction on me so I went back to the Lansinoh. The little yellow piece inside is hard to remove for washing so that is annoying. Also, the white membrane inside tears easily which causes loss of suction so it is not very durable. The Lansinoh pump turns out to be more durable and easier to take apart for washing. Also, the Lansinoh one is cheaper and comes with replacement parts and shield cover.

Comments about Medela Harmony Manual Breastpump, 1 ea:

I bought this since my first Lansinoh manual pump
died on me. I've just started using it so I'm not sure how durable it is. It is slightly easier to pump than the Lansinoh manual so your hand does not get as tired, however it leaks if milk gets caught under the lever which never happened with my Lansinoh pump. This pump is less comfortable than the Lansinoh since it does not have a soft silicone cover inside of the hard shield like the Lansinoh one. This pump is more expensive since it comes with a nipple and cap however it does not come with replacement parts like the Lansinoh one. I also have the Ameda manual pump which does not work as well as the Lansinoh or Medela ones. I think the Lansinoh is the easiest one to use since there are no leaking problems.

I got one of these free at the hospital when I gave birth and ordered a second one. I already had a medela Pump In Style double electric. but sometimes I am too lazy to hook it up. This pump is great, it gets JUST AS MUCH milk as the expensive PIS electric. That said, I experience some discomfort from the manual Harmony, and I don't with the PIS; but nothing intolerable or long lasting(a couple hours)

This is a good hand ...

Comments about Medela Harmony Manual Breastpump, 1 ea:

This is a good hand breast pump. I have the pump in style electric pump from Medela and it came with the piston and cylinder hand pump, which I found to be diffucult to use for long periods of time as it became tiring after a few minutes. At first I thought the Harmony was like that a constant pumping, however it has the nice feature of suction. All you have to do is pump down and hold and it maintains the flow of milk. When you release it dumps the milk into the bottle, but it isn't the constant pumping motion, you can go 20/30 seconds without releasing, which makes for less stress on the hand. It has two "speeds": one to encourage let down, and the other to use once let down has started. I would recommend this pump, but have not used other brands to compare it to!

I have always had trouble using breast pumps, even electric ones. I just don't want to "let down" for the pumps. But this is a nice little pump. I like it because the horns are soft and you can squeeze the breast a little while pumping. While of course not as quick as the electric or double pumps, it's a nice little battery-free quiet pump for occasional use.
