Unfortunately I got a dime sized 2nd degree right on my breast (a mishap with boiling water and a low cut top). Because I'm prone to scaring I immediately purchased this product.

As soon as the burn was semi heeled I began applying twice a day--once in the morning and once at night. I placed a bandaid over the area each application to prevent from being rubbed off. I also made sure to only treat the burned area for fear of pigment changes in skin which other users had mentioned.

Months went by and almost an entire tube and... I still scarred. It is a FLESH scar so it's nice that it isn't raised (perhaps that's a result of the product?). But, there is still a discolored pink scar on my breast. Not cool.

I can say that the product kept the area MOIST during the healing process, which for a burn is important. Though, this is also because I applied twice a day and kept a bandaid on it to prevent from rubbing off/drying out.

Does it work? Eh. I'm not sure. Others say it has, so there must be some people who are benefiting from it. I'm just not one of those people.

This cream did nothing to lessen the appearance of scars from scrapes on my legs that were about a year old at most. Applied it religiously until the tube was empty and no change to the discolorations.

This product gets rid of scares
My dermatologist removes pre-cancerous cells with liquid nitrogen which leaves brown scares. She recommended that I use Mederma cream to lighten them. It fades them completely!

It worked so well that three of our friends bought it, AND our sister bought ten tubes. I guess she is planning to beat the hell out of someone! Just kidding. Ten tubes! I think she is going to give it to her friends.

Some complain that it doesn't work or itches, etc. Face it just like ANY medication or other thing some people will have adverse reactions. That doesn't mean it doesn't work. I have had very good results after a full abdominoplasty. So, that's a 30 inch incision in my case folks!!!Only thing is you can get it for about half the price at [@]. The only reason I bought two tubes here was they were out of stock.

This is the worst product I have ever used. I have a scar on my left arm that was a few years old at the time I started using this product. It says it works on old or new scars, but this product did absolutely nothing for my scar. I applied it as directed for about 8 months, and it actually made my scar more noticeable. I am fair skinned, and it actually made the skin around the scar even lighter so that the scar was very obvious and looked like a bulls eye on my arm. I kept using it, thinking that eventually maybe my scar will start to diminish, but it never did. I haven't used this product in 6 months and the light mark on my arm is still there, drawing the eye right to my scar. I am going to be really upset if my skin is "stained" like this permanently! If you are contemplating buying this, I should say that I saw a generic version of this at a dollar store for $1. I'd try that instead..at least you wouldn't be dropping [$] on a product with the same active ingredient. Bottom line, for [$] I got a cream that not only didn't help my scar at all, but actually made it more noticeable. I am going to try a silicone-based scar product as I have read that they help to smooth the scar, making it less noticeable.

I have a south Indian complexion, and scars are very dark on me. I used this cream for about 3 months on several small, closely placed scars on my legs, some of which were the unfortunate result of electrolysis. Because each scar was quite small (<1/4" each) and they were so close together, I spread the cream across the whole area, about 6" x2". The scars did lighten, but to my surprise the skin between the scars lightened even more. I was so focused on examining the specific scars close up, that I failed to notice the normal skin lightening until it was quite obvious. It also left the skin scaly and itchy, even 2 months after STOPPING use of the cream. Now I have a large stripes of lightened skin across the front of my legs, with red splotches from flaking and scratching, and on which the original scars are still visible (albeit lighter than at the start).

I should also mention that I had tested the cream on a smaller, less noticeable scar on my arm for about 6 weeks before addressing my leg scars, and did not notice the untoward effects on the smaller scar.

So, in sum, I would suggest using the cream only in a very localized, targeted way for SMALL scars (which, admittedly, is what the package instructs). And if you have dark skin, use caution not to allow the cream to extend onto unscarred skin. (This was NOT mentioned in the instructions.) I also wish I had tested the cream on a small patch of NORMAL skin, not just scarred skin.
