Sure enough, once the stitches were removed, I had a pretty nasty line across my cheek that I was immediately self-conscious about. Upon the recommendation of both my surgeon and family doctor, I tried Mederma. VS Most Liked Negative Review Seemingly Decent, BUT Be Careful Okay, so even with all the reviews read - some positive, some negative - I decided to try Mederma because it is the number one doctor recommended treatment for scars (as advertised). I cannot believe the price of this, and yet I bought it for some reason. I used it for 3 months straight twice a day like it says on the box and it did absolutely nothing. I bought this item because one of my friends told me that it works on her acne skin very well. I tried it on my acne scars and also some others like stitches on my face near lips. This item did NOTHING, except put a burning feeling on my face and guess what, when I woke up in the morning, there were many little red patches on my face!!! I won't use product anymore. The product did absolutely nothing although I followed the instructions exactly. It takes a lot of time and is very expensive for no results. Very disappointing. I had heard about Mederma, but what really made me purchase it was a girl at Walgreens. She was a customer there looking at the products in the aisle also. She stated she used this based on her doctor's recommendation with scars on her face and it works wonders. However for me it did not. Using it 3-4 times a day is just not practical, therefore I would only use it 2 times a day. Scars are still here after four months of use, and do not appear to have lightened at all. I had surgery to the neck area 1 year ago, and was not pleased with the scar it left. After using Mederma for one week we have noticed a difference already, and would recommend it to our friends. For this price and the discomfort (itching and redness) you would get better results after 8 months of using nothing. As far as the acne and surgical scars, they are less noticeable but they are still there. I do not recommend this product to anyone. It does cause your skin to flake, itch, and get red, so I'd use it with caution on a facial scar. One reviewer recommended using cortisone cream with it. I put the tube next to my sink and put some on every time I saw it. I've been pleasantly surprised; it really works. I am now six months pregnant, and thought that this product could prevent or reduce my stretch marks. The product claims that if caught early enough this product would help. But all it did was cause an allergic reaction and caused my skin to become extremely red and itchy. It also seemed to make my skin worse than it was before I used it; instead of reducing stretch marks it seemed to make them worse. Displaying reviews 91-100
