It was a pretty deep gash, and all the while that I had the stitches in, I was really concerned about scarring. Sure enough, once the stitches were removed, I had a pretty nasty line across my cheek that I was immediately self-conscious about. Upon the recommendation of both my surgeon and family doctor, I tried Mederma. VS Most Liked Negative Review Seemingly Decent, BUT Be Careful Okay, so even with all the reviews read - some positive, some negative - I decided to try Mederma because it is the number one doctor recommended treatment for scars (as advertised). The depth of the marks is less deep, and they feel more like the rest of the skin there barely visible. I would recommend it to anyone, but you have to use it everyday if you want to see some type of result. It is a bit pricy, but it is well worth it!! Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: Ugh! This stuff itches. Well it was worse for me, because I had to apply it to my face. Even though it is said not to apply near my eye, my scar was a bit near my eye. The gel has an awful smell. It wasn't foul but you can't imagine the irritation I had. I had this sweet smelling gel on my face and it itched, but I couldn't scratch it. Even after the gel is done there is still this irritation on my face. The scar is fading though. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: This is the only scar therapy product that I will use. I have had many surgeries to remove moles, etc. My scars, if left untreated, have a tendency to become very thick and raised and red. If I start to use Mederma as soon as the sutures are removed, the scar blends in with the normal color of my skin and it is flat and not raised and hardly noticeable. I love the smell; it is very pleasant. You must use the product according to package directions. As for the price, this product goes a long way, which makes it less expensive than other scar therapy products. I can't recommend this product enough! Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: This works mainly for raised scars. I used it on a huge surgery scar on my knee and after several months, the scar has faded considerably and is barely noticeable from afar. Obviously, not a miracle cream (scars can't just disappear instantly), but this really helped make the scar less raised and less apparent. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I was in a car accident and had six stitches just above my right eye. I used Mederma twice a day (if I used more it began to itch) with some hydrocortisone, and it worked perfectly. It's not a miracle medicine! But it did help and now 7 months later, not as quite as noticeable but still there. Nothing a bit of makeup can't cover. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I tried it on a scar that I have from a surgery, and it didn't do anything. I rubbed it in 5-6 times a day and it still didn't do anything. Don't waste your money on this product. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: The texture, though it feels thin, is surprisingly emollient, and it seems like it could really do the job, but only if you are very diligent and remember to apply it frequently and to really rub the product in. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because there is no way to really know if this is working. Along that same point, I also think it is too expensive. And the final reason why I'm rating this product so low, and most importantly, is because an aloe vera plant is *so much cheaper*! Not only has it been proven to directly aid tissue regeneration, it's a fraction of the cost of Mederma, and it grows very easily in a pot, even inside your home or apartment, and nothing can compare to the proven benefits of natural, freshly picked, widely available, incredibly value-priced aloe vera plant. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I bought a tube of Mederma about six months ago to try on a few of my scars and stretch marks thinking it would make them appear less. After six months of using this, I see a little bit of difference in my scars and no difference in my stretch marks. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. It's way too expensive for something that doesn't work. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I decided to try this product a year after having my twins. I have stretch marks on my abdomen and legs. I began using this product about a month ago (very skeptical) and cannot believe the results. I was always told there is no resolution for stretch marks...well here it is! Only negative, I think it smells horrible, but it is something I can overlook. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: This has really softened some of my acne scars, better than expensive laser treatments I have tried. You MUST RUB it in for it to work, and use it 3 or 4 times a day to see results! Displaying reviews 101-110 ![]() |
