It was a pretty deep gash, and all the while that I had the stitches in, I was really concerned about scarring. Sure enough, once the stitches were removed, I had a pretty nasty line across my cheek that I was immediately self-conscious about. Upon the recommendation of both my surgeon and family doctor, I tried Mederma. VS Most Liked Negative Review Seemingly Decent, BUT Be Careful Okay, so even with all the reviews read - some positive, some negative - I decided to try Mederma because it is the number one doctor recommended treatment for scars (as advertised). Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: Prescribed by surgeon; four times a day - massage hard. After two months, everyone says scar is not noticeable; it still feels quite thick and knotty but is not very visible. Product is runny and tends to drip on my clothes (lost a quarter of my upper lip to cancer) when first applied, a problem at work. After rubbing, it becomes sticky and leaves visible flakes. A colleague tried it on her surgery scar and was allergic (itchy swelling and rash) so gave me her tube. I tried it on an old scar on my face and it itched so I stopped.

Best Uses Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I recently had foot surgery and ended up with a 2 inch scar along the top of my foot. I used mederma twice a day for two weeks. Mederma took most of the pigment from my skin around the scar area. I DO NOT recommend this product for people with dark skin.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: On its own, Mederma didn't do much for me, but then I found a home remedy called "Lemon Aid Scar Remover" (google it) that you make at home with just lemons... so what I did was the lemon treatment and followed up with mederma, and the results were amazing! My scars were lightened a lot and it actually even helped with stretch marks that I had!

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I'm getting married in a year and had a fairly large scar on my chest from a mole removal about 6 years ago. I wanted to try Mederma to at least lighten the scar up. It has lightened the scar up dramatically after about a month of use! I'm so happy with the results! Hopefully in the next 6 months it will fade my scar completely! Love love love this product!

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I recently cut my thumb quite deeply and needed 5 stitches. As soon as the cut was healed enough to leave the band aid off completely, I started using Mederma. That was about two weeks ago, and I'm already absolutely stunned by the results. I had figured that for [$] it couldn't possibly be worth it and I was being foolish and wasteful to try it, but I've been proven totally wrong. The scar is so faded already that you can barely tell it was ever there, and, according to the directions, I have 6 more weeks that I should apply it, and, of course, I will. I fully expect the results to continue and that by then it will be completely gone. I can feel it working; it's hard to explain. A slight tingling or burning that is barely noticeable but definitely there. It's not painful at all, just enough to know it's really doing something. And, it smells nice. I use the gel, by the way, and it takes very little per application. The tube will last and last. You barely need to squeeze any out, just run the top of the tube over your scar and apply the thinnest layer you can. After I use this 6 more weeks, no one will even believe I got cut at all! And, my kitchen stupidity will remain a secret forever!!!
