It was a pretty deep gash, and all the while that I had the stitches in, I was really concerned about scarring. Sure enough, once the stitches were removed, I had a pretty nasty line across my cheek that I was immediately self-conscious about. Upon the recommendation of both my surgeon and family doctor, I tried Mederma. VS Most Liked Negative Review Seemingly Decent, BUT Be Careful Okay, so even with all the reviews read - some positive, some negative - I decided to try Mederma because it is the number one doctor recommended treatment for scars (as advertised). The bump is actually right next to the piercing. It was round and red and I tried vitamin E oil and decided to get a tube of Mederma. I have used it one day and it has reduced the size of the bump and is not as noticeable. That is only after one day. I believe it does work. I will use it 3 to 4 times like it says. I think you must use it often to see results. I think also rubbing it in helps. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I recommend just using a Vitamin E lotion of some sort. I used this -- a whole tube -- according to directions and noticed no difference on a scar I had just gotten. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: It didn't work for me and I think it actually made the scar (keloid type) darker. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I had to try this gel. When I get pimples the red marks are there for months and months. I purchased this gel right before a big blemish. I started using Mederma as the pimple started healing and was almost gone. It works great. I did have some redness and dryness that scared me but when I stopped using for a day...the redness went away. Even though the skin is still dry, I will keep using because the redness will go way after you stop using. May take two days for the redness to go -- it is so worth it. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I have been using this product for a little over a month on scars that formed in May. So far I have had very good results. The scars have faded and become a lot less noticeable. Hopefully this product will keep working. When I first started using this product it made my skin itch a little bit, but not enough to make me stop using it. I love it. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I had my scar from my C-section, and started to use Mederma after 3 months of my surgery....after a few days my skin became itchy and dry, I didn't know what was happening until I decided to stop using the product.....and finally my skin again return to be normal, and the scar looks as usual. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I have multiple hypertrophic scars on my left arm resulting from an accident about 10 years ago. When I first heard about Mederma (about 4 years ago), I couldn't wait to use it. Since then I've religiously applied it for over 3 years. 1.75oz tube lasted me approximately 1 month. Since the scars were old, I didn't have high expectations. The cream did help to even out the texture of the scars, however did nearly nothing for returning back healthy skin tone in damaged areas. Disappointed, I stopped using it. After a while, scarred skin texture seemed to revert back. So, after all this time and effort, I have no positive results to share. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. Especially about Mederma causing redness/itchiness. I have extremely sensitive skin, and Mederma does not irritate it in the least. I have been using Mederma for about 4 weeks now on a dog bite scar on my face. I started using it when the scar was pretty new, and I have seen MAJOR improvement. I only put it on once or twice a day, not three or four as is recommended, but I'm still getting great results. The scar has faded dramatically and people hardly notice it anymore. As someone else mentioned, a little bit of this stuff goes a long way. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: I was in a car accident three years ago, which caused me to have to undergo 8 surgeries on my ankle, elbow, and shoulder. Reconstruction of my ankle/foot required a skin graft from my thigh and a bone graft from my hip. I am full of scars. Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars, Topical Gel, 1.76 oz: Not much success here on older surgery scars or stretch marks. Perhaps it works on brand new scars? However, any doctor can usually prescribe a similar, less expensive, topical solution. Displaying reviews 71-80 ![]() |
