I am a woman who was diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia (female pattern baldness). I have been using Rogaine for the past year and have seen TREMENDOUS results! My hair is thicker although it has not grown much in length. I noticed my husband's hair was thinning like mine, so I started using the Rogaine foam on him about 3 months ago. It's still too soon to see results, but I know from my own personal experience that results take several months to show. Also, another review mentioned hair falling out after a couple of months. That is actually a good thing, and proof that the product is working! My doctor explained that in order for the hair shaft to support more hair, it must first rid itself of the singular, non-viable hair. Therefore, you will notice some initial hair loss, followed by lots of thick, baby fine hairs that eventually grow in strong and healthy! The bottom line with this product, you must commit to using it continually or else your hair will go back to how it was before. Even though I'm a woman, my doctor has recommended it is okay for females to use the 5% strength. Honest! I'm a completely satisfied customer! (I just wish the product wasn't so expensive!)

I have used Rogain consistantly for more than 10 years, so I am comparing this foam version against the liquid form that you administer via dropper. I am rather miffed that the foam version has been heavily advertised as more preferable. I decided it was worth a try and ordered a 3 month supply. The first thing that struck me, upon spraying the foam onto my extended finger was the smell. The foam, like alot of reviewers have pointed out is flowery and not anything remotely near to what a grown man would want to emit. The foam product is advertised as more conveniant and can be applyed in a mere several seconds. That may be, but I personally would freely give up some conveniense for increased effectiveness, and certainly not the other way around. I looked online for information comparing the effectiveness of this foam verses the liquid version and have found nothing. The fact that the foam is not even deemed just as affective as the liquid makes me concerned enough not to use it. Baring any information about its effectiveness compared to the liquid make me rely completely on common sence, which tells me the the liquid form is more effective. With the dropper, I can apply the liquid directly to the scalp, precisely to the areas where my follicles need help. With the foam , much of it is left on top and within the strands of hair, not getting to the scalp where it ulitanately needs to go.
Personally, I believe that the foam is less convenient. You need to get you fingers messy witht he foam. With the dropper, I often just sit in front of the TV, especially in the afternoon. Remember, you need to use this product twice a day, not just in the morning. With the dropper my hands stay dry and clean. Also with the dropper I can easily administer the exact amount recommended. With the foam, you have the guess at how much, you put on your finder, is the amount that would fill up the cap.
Lack of comparative data, messy hands, bad smell, and guess work are more than enough reasons for me to never try this rotten foam product again. I hope they go back to just marketing the liquid version.

Due to illness and strong medications, I developed female pattern baldness. Over time - I lost at least 1/2 of my hair. When my dermatologist recommended Rogaine (men's strength), I was skeptical. But fearing total baldness, I tried it. From the first application (foam)-I noticed my hair looked thicker and fuller the next morning!!! I've been using it 1x or 2x a day for 2 months and after some initial hair loss - my hair looks 'normal' again. It's full of body and can be styled normally. A great product - if a bit overpriced. (I can't see new growth-but what I have is looking so much better......)

I've found minimal new hair growth but the product makes existing hair thicker and much more manageable. Well worth the cost when your hair is so fine as mine is. And I do not find hair loss to be happening any longer.

I apply the foam first thing in the morning, after showering, then again in mid afternoon after my daily workout and after showering. It's easy to apply and actually grows hair. Amazing, I did no believe it. And a great thing...it's affordable if purchased on Drugstore.com. I have only tried the foam and it is remarkably easy to apply.

My hair was really thinning out and for a woman it's horrorifying. Desperate, I read the reviews and thought I would try.
First: this may not work. it says on the package but just in case I want to mention that. Second: I used the men's product because when I first ordered the women's product was out of stock. There is a warning on the men's product that women shouldn't use. The men's uses a higher dose of monoxidil and it has been know to lower blood pressure. If your BP is under control then you should be ok but just ask your just in case. Third: it may take 6 months or longer for any results to show. You may have an itchy scalp. You may notice more hair loss when you first use.
With that being said. I did notice hair loss when i first started using and I was nervous. It eventually stopped. I have been using this product everyday 1 to 2 times a day for about 7 months now and have seen some regrowth. It is not completely filled in but it is much better than when the hair loss was at its worse. I did have an itchy scalp but i would rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar after shampooing and the itching stopped.
The product says once you start you should not stop because hair loss will return. I plan to continue with this treatment because I have seen reults and I don't want my hair loss to return to where it was when I first started.
I may never have a full head of hair but I do not feel as self concious as before. I would recommend this product to others.

As their advertisement I think I was buying "Extra Strength" product, but I didn't see anything as Extra Strength on the product once I received, I don't know if I get cheated. They told me that I got the right product when I called their customer service department.

The drops tend to drip, so I tried the foam. The foam's directions say to use 1/2 cap full -- sounds simple, but if you put it in the cap, it is hard to get out. The foam tends to rapidly collapse. It is easier to eyeball 1/2 cap full and put it in your hand. It tends to dry into the hair faster than the drops. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it does help style the hair in place. So far, I prefer the foam to the drops.
