Do Not Use if:
you are a woman
your degree of hair loss is different than that shown on the side of this carton or your hair loss is on the front of the scalp. 5% minoxidil topical solution is not intended for frontal baldness or receding hairline.
you have no family history of hair loss
your hair loss is sudden and/or patchy
you do not know the reason for your hair loss
you are under 18 years of age . Do not use on babies and children.
your scalp is red, inflamed, infected, irritated or painful
you use other topical prescription products on the scalp
Ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease.
When using this product:
do not apply on other parts of the body
avoid contact with the eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse eyes with large amounts of cool tap water.
some people have experienced changes in hair color and/or texture
it takes time to regrow hair. Results may occur at 2 months with twice a day usage. For some men, you may need to use this product for at least 4 months before you see results.
the amount of hair growth is different for each person. This product will not work for all men.

I have been using Rogaine for about 5 years. I started right when I noticed my hair beginning to thin, which I think was key. It definitely prevented further hair loss and promoted hair growth...how do I know about the latter? Well I also use Propecia and about a year after using Rogaine, I added Propecia to the mix. I was working under the assumption that after 3 months of being on Propecia, I could then stop using Rogaine. Wrong! I tried that, and then I started thinning excessively. To the point that others were commenting on my balding. I quickly starting using Rogaine again, and I began to regrow the hair I lost!
Now here's the down side - flaking. Rogaine, in it's liquid form, flakes off. This is something that can definitely be an issue, and it's something that you should be aware of. I tried Rogaine Foam, but it weighted my hair down and left a residue in my hair, giving it the appearance of being thin (Keep in mind, I have a full head of hair. If you were to see me, you would never suspect I was losing my hair). I actually use both. Foam at night and liquid in the morning. I do this to minimize flaking, for I do not notice an issue with flaking when using the foam. I normally wash my hair in the morning, removing the residue associated with Rogaine Foam. I have used this product for several years. It has not given me a full head of hair. However, only recently did I discover that I have perhaps been using too little volume? (I am a bit cheap person..) Anyway, whereas I previously only sort of maintained a little hair on top I now suddenly get a lot growing out and I am excited to see how much I will get in the end. So my advise is to try this product and use it for a couple of months and remember to use sufficient volume. Also, I see no reason to change to the foam varient- I have short hair and preventing the fluid from running down your scalp is not a problem. Just apply and rapidly spread out with a finger (and wash hands afterwards).

You should use this product every night and morning. For the ladies out there, like myself - unfortunately it makes styling your hair difficult because it does leave your scalp a little greasy (I combat this with some dry shampoo, the powder)...but if you have hair loss- use it, because it works. I have been experiencing female balding for the past 10 years and use this religiously. You MUST continue use or your hair will begin to fall out again. I know that they also make a Womens Rogaine - but I became a customer before that line was introduced...the difference is the %of Minoxidil - consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

i was having serious hairloss and after a few times of using this product in 2 weeks i saw a big diference. my hair was no falling out and i even had new hair coming in. great product!

I've been using this product for a year now and I can't say its been all that great, but i continue to use it cause its better than doing nothing. When you gotta do something about your hair loss I recomend this product.

I hardly write reviews. This thing does nothing but harm to my body. Even $50 refund directly from Rogaine will not ease the damage/pain this product already made to my scalp and skin.
I started applying 5% ROGAINE® Extra Strength Topical Solution on Auguest 27th of 2010. Ever since I shedded about 200 hair daily. I didn't stop using it until 3 weeks after. The reason was only because it made me extremely itchy around my ears, eyes, and neck. Now October 21st of 2010, almost 1 month after I stopped using the product. I still woke up in the middle of the night scratching my arm and stomach area. The shedding did stop about a couple week ago but those 5000 hair + I lost I doubt I will ever grow them back. I must warn you please please stay away from this product. This prodcut caused me extreme allergic reaction even though I have no such history to any other medicine/food.

I started out using a generic store brand version of this about a year and a half ago when my bald spot had gotten to the point where people were saying (without being asked for their opinion!) just to shave my head. Some time went by and people started commenting that it looked like my hair was filling in again. Including my hair stylist. I didn't really take her word for it though. I didn't look at the bald spot since I started using this. I just wanted to believe it was working. Well today I decided it was time to pull out the mirror and see what has happened after all this time. It made a lot of that hair grow back. I am very pleased. It is still thinner than the surrounding area but it's not obviously a bald spot now to people standing behind me whereas before it was totally bald. And it's in the middle of summer now, when the heat and humidity always seems to make the hair thinnest yet it looks great. I prefer Rogaine brand over the generic brand. It's not as runny. As long as it goes on sale I'll keep buying it. I apply at breakfast and again after dinner. Easy to remember that way.

Now on week 14 with no results but [$] spent. Literature is minimal and confusing. Dr. approved for receding hairline, purchased product and literature says "not to be used for receding hairline", with no explanation why! Glad they got rid of the heavy French pefurme smell but hate the greasy application. Nice if you like the wet look but if you don't, it looka like you haven't washed your hair in some time. Literature used to say 12 weeks for regrowth and that has now been revised on their commercials to 18 weeks. You can take a pill, Propecia which does the same thing, I would recommend getting an Rx instead if you're really desperate but compare the prices first.
Apply one mL with dropper 2 times a day directly onto the scalp in the hair loss area
Using more or more often will not improve results
Continued use is necessary to increase and keep your hair regrowth or hair loss will begin again

Hair regrowth has not been shown to last longer than 48 weeks in large clinical trials with continuous treatments with 5% minoxidil topical solution for men
In clinical studies with mostly white men aged 18-49 years with moderate degrees of hair loss, 5% minoxidil topical solution for men provided more hair regrowth than 2% minoxidil topical solution
Store at controlled room temperature 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F)
Using the Dropper Applicator:
Line up arrows on bottle and over cap and pull off the over cap
Remove inner cap by pushing and turning in direction of the arrows on the cap.
Squeeze the rubber bulb and insert the dropper into the bottle. Release the bulb, allowing the dropper to fill to the 1 mL line. If the level of the solution is above the 1 mL line, squeeze the extra amount back into the bottle.
Place the tip near the part of the scalp you want to treat and gently squeeze the bulb to gradually release the solution. To prevent the solution from running off the scalp, apply a small amount at a time.
After each use attach the dropper to the bottle to make it child-resistant by turning it clockwise until tightly closed.
