Chemical Name: METRONIDAZOLE (me-troe-NI-da-zole)
Metronidazole 0.75% Cream is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat redness and inflammation associated with a skin condition known as rosacea. Metronidazole 0.75% Cream may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Metronidazole 0.75% Cream. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT USE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM if you are also taking disulfiram. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (such as warfarin). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including a history of certain blood disorders (such as low white blood cell or platelet levels), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream.
Follow the directions for using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream provided by your doctor. Wash and completely dry the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. STORE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT use 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use Metronidazole 0.75% Cream for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS for Metronidazole 0.75% Cream to work. Do not stop using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream without checking with your doctor first. Tell your doctor If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse. Metronidazole 0.75% Cream is for use on the skin only. AVOID GETTING METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. If you get it in any of these areas, rinse immediately with cool water. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR before you apply other topical products or medicines to the treated area. You may apply cosmetics after using some brands of Metronidazole 0.75% Cream. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you may use cosmetics with your brand. BEFORE YOU BEGIN USING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT USE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM FOR OTHER SKIN CONDITIONS at a later time. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE DRINKING ALCOHOL while you are using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream during pregnancy. METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream, check with your doctor or pharmacist first to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using Metronidazole 0.75% Cream, include redness, mild dryness, itching, burning, stinging, or skin irritation. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience nausea; tingling or numbness in hands and feet; or severe burning, dryness, irritation, itching, scaling, or stinging. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Metronidazole 0.75% Cream is unlikely but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Metronidazole 0.75% Cream may be harmful if swallowed.
DO NOT SHARE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM for other health conditions. KEEP METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM out of the reach of children and pets. IF YOU WILL BE USING METRONIDAZOLE 0.75% CREAM FOR AN EXTNEDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
