I'm a 19 year old working woman in South Florida with oily skin like you wouldn't believe. I'm lucky to have a random day once a week where my pores aren't gapingly huge, but the oil persists. This powder actually lived up to it's own expectations which surprised me because it was the very first product I tried for my needs. I have medium-light facial skin that does not tan, so I use this alone (no foundation or primer) to match my body skin color. It does an amazing job of applying evenly with the option to go darker at your discretion. As for the oil, it does absorb it, however, blotting is still necessary, and frankly it always will be, that's normal. It looked like my natural skin tone as it didn't 'float' to the top or look cakey at all! Also, the powder plate flips up into the lid to show a hidden mirror and powder applicator pad. I use the pad for lighter application around my eyebrows and mouth, and use my blush brush for the rest.
