Most Liked Positive Review Mucinex Years ago my allergist prescribed this product, which at that time it was not an over-the-counter product...it was known as Humibid/Guafinex. It was recommended to be taken twice daily...AM/PM. I take at least one per day and have never had any side effects. It was recommended to be taken twice daily...AM/PM. I take at least one per day and have never had any side effects. I always take one about an hour before a vocal performance as it clears up any nagging congestion in my sinus area...which is very crucial for a vocalist. One last note...Mucinex is also vital for keeping the common cold in check because it does not allow mucous build up in the sinuses, throat, or chest. I highly recommend this product for allergy or cold suffers. VS Most Liked Negative Review Works, but price is a rip-off When Guaifenesin CR was a prescription item, it cost about $.20 per 600 mg tablet, or less. Then a second-tier company got a "new drug" registration on this 60 year old medication, made it over-the-counter (so no one else can sell it by prescription), and raised the price to [$] per tablet.
