If your child loves music, has a hard time pushing buttons, this is the toy for them. The large buttons are easily pushed with the palm of the hand rather than the index finger. My Down's Syndrome two year old can sit with this for long periods of time, it soothes and calms her. It had the same effect on a foster child I had with brain damage. Since the music is "classical" it can be soothing for me too rather than annoying like some of toys. Even though the music is classical, the pieces are upbeat and energetic.

Based on the other reviews, I bought this for my 8 month old granddaughter, who loves music. She is enjoying it, but is too young to catch the difference between the various instruments. She bangs it anywhere to get music and she's happy. She does enjoy turning the cube every which-way to see all the blinking lights and colors. I think as she grows older this will provide plenty of opportunities for her to use more advanced skills. It seems quite sturdy, has good sound quality, and have no corners or sharp places to worry about.

I bought this in 2004 for my son and now my daughter born 9/2008 uses it. It still works and has taken a tumble in its time.My son plays with it sometimes still at almost 5 years old. It is just great! great gift to buy for a baby shower. Mom can play music to baby whil estill in the belly :)

Don't waste your money. Toy broke within minutes of giving it to my nephew for his birthday. He is two. Toy needs rubber on all the corners and connecting sides...not just the corners. Most boys will want to throw this item. The idea is great...but needs a redesign. Less hard plastic and more rubbery plastic would help.

I order this toy because of the very high ratings on drugstore.com, and when I received it I was very happy with my choice. I gave this toy to my nephew who I am very close to, and he learned to enjoy it and love the music. Unfortunately after a few weeks of having it, the cube fell off the couch while he was playing with it - and the white plastic on the borders of the cube broke. I don't know if it is because the plastic broke near the on/off button or why - but it won't work anymore. With all the rubber corners on this cube, I thought that the rest of the product would have been more durable - a real disappointment!

I would give it a billion stars if I could. My son received this cube the day he was born, and it's been his favorite toy ever since. It plays beautiful music. Baby can use it easily without help. It is durable. A must for every baby.

My son has played with his cube for two years. When he was 9 months, he liked to push the buttons and feel in control. Now that he's almost 3, he's more deliberate. He chooses the songs and instruments he likes best.
This toy is very durable and the batteries last a long time. Well worth the investment. I'm buying one as a baby-shower gift.
