I have corneal edema and can get recurrent corneal abrasions/tears (hell on earth as far as excrutiating pain!) as a result. I was recommended Muro ointment by my eye doc when I had an extremely severe and miserable corneal tear in 2010 to use for prevention. I have used it faithfully each night (need to reapply 2 to 3 times per night as instructions state btw) since and have had only one tear in August 2012. These rips/tears in the cornea are inevitible I'm told with the condition of corneal edema, but Muro keeps them to a minimum. I don't know what I'd do without it. For folks with this condition it is the difference between having a life (during the day anyway -- after the swelling of the nightly edema goes down (this takes at least an hour each morning with eyes kept shut after carefully wiping out the Muro residue upon awakening followed immediately by dropping in a few drops of Refresh Optive drops before rolling eyes to coat them) and living in fear of going to sleep at night fearing a corneal "episode" every morning when opening eyes. It is rather messy but that is a very small price to pay for the benefit and peace of mind. Please close eyes gently after putting the line of Muro into your lower lid before bedtime and roll your eyes all around thoroughly to coat entire eyeball. This is the key to the Muro doing it's job to the maximum. Thanks Bausch and Lomb (and drugstore.com for the best pricing I've found)but it would be heaven sent if B and L could cut the price for those in my same boat who must use Muro nightly without fail. Due to LASIK and cataract surgeries, as well as the fact that my eyelids do not close completely when I sleep, I have chronic dry eyes. If I do not use a good lubricant when I sleep, my eyes are painful and extremely irritated when I awake in the morning. This product is the absolute BEST in keeping my eyes moist and comfortable throughout the night and in the morning. I am never without it, whether I'm at home or away. I've used several other ointments, but none are as effective for me as this one.
