i thought our 2.5 month old would grow out of his cradle cap stage. unfortunately, he didn't despite our efforts to get rid of it au naturale - olive oil. he didn't have it too badly but did have some nasty redness and dryness down to his cheeks (thought it was baby acne). the flakiness on the scalp was what was alarming for us, because it didn't go away with olive oil application. the olive oil just made our baby slick without effectively getting rid of the cradle cap. we resisted this expensive shampoo, but i'm glad we got it. i wish we'd gotten it sooner since it was decently effective. it didn't go away immediately but did go away with about 1.5-2 weeks of use. the smell's pretty pleasant. one thing i didn't like was that it has paraben.

Comments about Mustela Bebe Foam Shampoo for Newborns, 5.07 fl oz:

I was so fearful of my grandson getting "cradle cap" so I searched on the internet for a gentle shampoo. Mustela is a bit more expensive, but totally worth it to see my grandson's hair so clean and shiny. His hair just falls into place. I tried to use other products, but always came back to Mustela. He is now 3 yrs. and I use it every day.

Love this shampoo. It's so easy to easy with the pumo and allows you to keep a hand on your baby while in taking a bath. Love the smell and will continue to buy this for a long time.

I watch my grandson from 7:00AM to 8:00PM and I've used
this shampoo since he was born. Tried many others, but this one seems to do the trick for us. He did not have any cradle cap, and his hair has always been shiny and clean.

Very gentle & nice smell. Easy to use since it's already foam, especially when you bathe your infant alone.

You don't have to live with or suffer through your baby having cradle cap. I was skeptical when other moms told me that this worked for them in one use. I never had an issue with my other children, so when my daughter developed cradle cap, I wasn't sure what to do. Follow the directions and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. My baby's cradle cap was significantly improved after the first use and gone by the second. This also worked for my 2 yo niece who was still battling with it and has very long hair. Left it soft and manageable. The smell is very similar to Miele, if you're familiar with that product. Kind of a honey smell, I can see how it might be disliked by some. However, it doesn't have a lasting effect.

The only shampoo that helped us with the cradle cap. A very pleasant smell is a plus. Great for newborns and infants, safe and gentle.
