Comments about Natrapel 8 Hour Insect Repellent Uncarded Pump, 3.4 oz:

While comparatively new to the U.S. this has been in use in Australia and elsewhere for years. It's safe and effective. I like how it it is gentler on skin and does't disolve wood finish or plastic/nylon in your hands as DEET can. I live in a very heavily mosquito infested area in a remote setting so I know what I'm saying when I say Picaridin is effective.

The only downside is that it is not yet available in concentrations more than 20% yet and, to be effective, Picaridin needs to be about the same concentration as DEET for a true comparison. (I typically use @30% concentration for DEET). I notice that, over the past several years, they've gradually been raising what is avaialble so maybe they are being cautious for a new product. Lower concentrations may be adequate for more urban/suburban environments. It's great for kids.

This particular brand works well and the scent is not overpowering.

Comments about Natrapel 8 Hour Insect Repellent Uncarded Pump, 3.4 oz:

I moved to Florida last year, and this has been my go-to insect repellent after considerable experimentation. I use DEET overseas in Dengue areas, but DEET makes me nervous for everyday use. I've tried lots of "natural" products, and they don't work very well for me. Natrapel seems to keep the bugs at bay under most conditions. It's sticky enough that I have to take a shower to get it off before bed, but I'd rather do that than scratch mosquito bites. I'm delighted that they finally offer a size that will fit in a 3-1-1 bag!
