I started using this product in May and have had a complete turnaround in my symptoms. I have ulcerative colitis for which my large intestine has been removed and replaced with a pouch made of small intestine which is often irritated and inflamed (pouchitis). For 5 months, about 2 weeks apart I was having intestinal blockages that lasted 3-10 days, totally incapacitating me. Had lots of tests done that showed nothing wrong in the small intestine. My surgeon finally found that it was my pouch acting up and blocking the whole works. I had heard of medical studies being done with good success on very expensive probiotics (90 dollars for a 1 month supply!) and thought why not give the cheaper ones a try. Within 2 weeks, I had a marked decrease in pain and blockage. Instead of 3-10 days of incapacitation every 2 weeks, I have had 2 incidences in three months of feeling a little uncomfortable and gurgly for a few hours. I plan to take these forever! I like that they come with a protective coating so that it doesn't get destroyed by the stomach acid. I attribute my improved digestive health to the use of this product. Every person is different, but this product has worked for me. If you have Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, I recommended you discuss any changes to your routine with your physician. If you have Ulcerative Colitis this is a pill you should take every day. It is the only pill that works for me. I take 5 a day and it works! Really! I found out that there are thousands of different strains of good bacteria and each one has a different effect on the body. I have had IBS with constipation for years. Supplementing with fiber gave some relief but never really satisfied with results. I started probiotics last August 2010. I was impressed with the first name brand I purchased. Then, in Jan 2011 I came across Natrol Intensive Maximum Care Probiotics. They were stronger and more expensive but I liked them better. Then everyone online stopped selling them. I was impressed with the Natrol product so I decided to try another probiotic manufactured by this company - BioBeads. I love these even more. They only have 4 strains in it but it is the four strains recommended for people with IBS. I hope this product stays on the market. I bought enough for 6 months. Love it, love it, love it. But when I was recently put on heavy duty antibiotics for a month, I was very concerned about getting the serious complications that can come from that (permanent bowel problems). I took these throughout the month and I did not have any problems or develop a yeast infection. They also eliminated a chronic problem I've had for years with gas and bowel/digestion problems. They are not a miracle, but very good. If you eat alot of carbs and sweets, I highly recommend to prevent candida. Just keep everything moving and the internal bugs down. They have over 2 billion "good bugs", which make them higher quality than most. NO REFRIGERATION NEEDED either. Yea! And super easy to swallow--they are very tiny. I had taken acidophilus previousley in capsule form. After reading, on this site, how capsules start breaking down as soon as they are in your mouth I felt I wasn't getting a 'full dose'. These Bio-Beads are wonderful and if you take the time to read about them you'll understand why this is the only form of acidophlus to take. They are expensive but worth it. Thank you and stay well.
