Comments about Natrol Niacin TR Time Release, 500mg, Tablets, 100 ea: On physician's advice, I've been taking 1500-2000mg a day of niacin for nearly 15 years to help keep blood lipids normal and avoid taking statin drugs--which I had a very bad reaction to (as do many women). Niacin that is NOT in a non-flush or time-release form causes horrible flushing and itching that lasts an hour or so: if someone tells you your body will adjust to that, don't believe it!NATROL has a good reputation for quality and purity, and the pricing is reasonable. Niacin is a water-soluble B vitamin, so what your body doesn't use, leaves in urine. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about Natrol Niacin TR Time Release, 500mg, Tablets, 100 ea: Recently, slow-release niacin, a non-prescription nutritional supplement, was shown to be superior to Zetia (ezetimibe), a very expensive prescription drug, at lowering fasting serum lipid levels in a head-to-head randomized clinical trial. At a fraction of the price, that's huge. Plus niacin is one of the few lipid-lowering agents capable of reducing high triglyceride levels.
