The light version of this is AMAZING on my NC10 skin – it has been my holy grail lotion for several months now!!! (Be weary of the medium if you are not a dark medium skin tone, if you are pale to dark light do NOT use the medium. It's not like most STs where fair skin can wear medium shade for a deeper tan. The medium will come out a horrible artificial orange on you.). I picked this up on a whim. I have used sunless tanner on and off for a while when I saw this so I figured why not. I have tried 'glow' lotions from other drugstore brands in the past and hated them. This one however gives you a natural healthy radiant glow. One of my favorite things with this is that I don't need to pay careful attention to how I apply it. I just slap it on like a regular lotion and it comes out flawless - unlike the time it takes for STs. I don't feel like this product makes me appear any darker really, just makes my skin look beautiful with a peachy tone to it. (Though it will literally darken you because I have to use a different color foundation when I wear it (I go from NC10 to NC20, I just don't think its dark enough for someone to ask you if you got sun or anything). However, I find that even though this doesn't make me dark it still makes me look healthier and prettier than ST's so it's still a winner for me. The color lasts for a pretty long time too - about 3 - 4 days for one application except for my face. It comes off of my face every night when I wash it so I have to apply it nightly but that's no different than any ST I use either. It will layer so you can build it darker if you want, you just won't get super tan with it. I wouldn't say this product smells good but its very light. I just make sure I wash in the morning (I use this at night before bed) then put on a great smelling lotion afterwards. Oh! I have also had no staining of clothes with this!

There are three surprising results I saw with this that I did not expect. 1) It evens out my blotchy skin tone, especially around my mouth where it's naturally darker. 2) It helps calm my mild rosacea when it flares. 3) It actually helps my acne calm down some. I don't know why it does these things as most lotions actually irritate my rosacea and my acne is typically a pain in the butt either way you slice it. This might be unique to me, but I love love love this stuff for that! I actually feel I can go out without foundation when I use it!! :) I hope this works for you too!

I was so looking forward to using this in place of a more expensive product. It smells good and goes on smoothly, but I woke up with an uneven tan and blotches of muddy tan on my legs. Going back to Xen-Tan.

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

This product tends to leave my skin a little greasy; it comes off on clothes - even if I rub it in well and wait to dress; and develops very little color, if any. I do generally like Nature's Gate products.

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

This is a good gradual self tanner for people with very light skin. I would say it is so gradual that I might have thought it didn't work, except that the first time I put on too much (bottle says to apply a "generous" amount) and ended up with streaks. After that I used a little less, rubbed in real good while wearing gloves, and haven't gotten any streaks just a faint tan. I don't usually moisturize so my skin feels a little too moisturized on the days when I use this, but on the plus side, I'm extra soft.

This is a perfect self tanner for those that are fair or light skinned. It is a very natural tan, not one that shows it's obviously fake. The smell is a little funky, but fades very quickly. Other self tanners I can smell on me all day. This one I only notice it when applying. I like the natural ingredients and the ease of application.

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

I never give out five stars lightly; however this product deserves it. I can use it on my face and body without a reaction of any kind, and I have highly reactive rosacea prone skin. I can't say that about too many other self tanners. The color is a perfect, even golden glow on the first application. There is never an issue with patchy fading that I so dislike in other self tanners, perhaps because it's a gradual formula. The price is amazing for the huge bottle. I have nothing negative to say. There isn't even a noticeable self tanner smell. If anything, maybe a faint scent that reminds me of oatmeal that quickly fades. I would be quite upset if Nature's Gate ever discontinued it.

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

Love this product. Application is truly simple and fool proof. A sunless tanner that is actually moisturizing is hard to find! No break-outs, rashes, or streaking. It builds to a beautiful color that looks great. I choose to use this product to blends lines and maintain a prior darker sunless tan application.
My Holy Grail Sunless Tanner is by Jan Marini. It works for face and body developing a darker sunless tan. However it's $$$ and the color will get extremely dark if you need to maintain color. I also prefer to use the Jan Marini only as a face sunless tanner and one time base body sunless tanner. I maintain my glow by using Natures Gate on body everyday or every other. My face is every other day or 2 days with only the Jan Marini. Natures Gate also blends out the harder areas like feet and hands. Those are always, always, hit or miss with most sunless tanners. Natures Gate glow always delivers a beautiful even color even on those tough areas.
I've tried so many sunless tanners and through much experimentation this application works for me. It develops the most natural yet not to dark obvious tan. This gradual color would stand alone on its own and be a obvious choice for winter.
I agree, the smell is a little off. However the scent dissipates quickly. The color, easy application, moisture benefits, and no skin disruptions make up for the not so great smell in my opinion.
Moisturize knees/elbows/hands/feet with oil-free lotion. Allow lotion to moisturize those areas for a few minutes.
                  Work from feet upward.
Use a kubuki brush for feet and hands. Wait 10 minutes and apply oil-free lotion to feet and hands over glow lotion.
                  Get dressed.
*If using on face and face is dry- lightly moisturize face using an oil free lotion prior to gradual tan. Allowing lotion on face to sink in while working on body. (The sunless tanner even though it's gradual could still pick up dry areas on face. Making skin look blotchy.)

I have used many facial self tanners--- I can't vouch for using this as a full body tanner, but it works great on face & neck & chest....the areas I refuse to get ANY sun on.
I was looking for an organic product & Natures Gate Glow Lotion delivers!

It's non greasy....a pet peeve I have with other products. It also has a very light, pleasant scent, unlike some that just bowl you over with fumes. It also delivers a very light " glow" which I LOVE--- so if you want a really dark look, this may not be for you. I think a light glow is a lot more natural anyhow, so it works for me.

Highly recommended....it also comes in a large bottle, and the price is right.

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

I've been using this for a few years and love it!

When I start "fresh", totally exfoliated and fairly pasty, I use the Nature's Gate Tanning lotion once in the morning and again at night. By the next morning, I can see it working. That next morning I put on a layer of Medium Glow Lotion when I get out of the shower, letting it dry before I get dressed. Even if I wear light clothing that day and it "rubs off" on anything I'm wearing, it comes right out in the wash (I purposely don't buy white bras or undies as they tend to yellow and bleach is too harsh). After I've built a good color, I switch to using the light Glow Lotion every morning...for those that think it has a smell, covering it up at night while sleeping can make the smell stronger. Using it during the day doesn't smell at all.

I never put it directly on my feet/ankles/heels or hands but as soon as I finish with the rest of my body, I add a little plain lotion to my hands, rub it into my hands thoroughly (add a little more lotion) and then wipe down onto the top of my feet/ankles/heels from my lower shins, (add a little more lotion) rub lightly over front and back of knees, elbows/bend in my arms. I wash my hands, trying to keep water off the front of my hands, but use a fingernail brush to thoroughly scrub my palms, underneath of fingers, underneath nails and around cuticles. When I towel off my hands, I rub very well between my fingers all the way down to the bottom so nothing accumulates there.

Then I use a long handled shower brush with a flat back to spread across my upper back. Every couple of days, I use take a round cotton pad and using the medium Glow Lotion, spread across the tops of my hands and front fingers...let it dry for a few minutes and then rub in some plain lotion being careful to keep away from cuticles and under nails (or you can use fingernail brush again).

If I notice a "build-up" around my ankles or arches, I'll run a little water over a round cotton pad and wipe (don't rub hard) over the area very lightly until it goes away (you can rub harder on your ankles). Sometimes I'll notice it's "coming away" from my shins due to shaving, so I'll rub over them with exfoliating gloves (dry, not wet) and then apply a good coat of medium Glow Lotion or the darker tanning lotion before bed.

I grew up in Florida...constantly in the sun...but am now starting to pay the price with 4 carcinomas removed via surgery by the dermatologist in the past few years. This stuff is so much healthier, easier and so natural looking. I have sold lots of this stuff for Natures Gate by just telling people what I use. My dermatologist is one of them!

Hope the tips I have learned from long time use will help you!

Comments about Nature's Gate Glow Lotion, Light Skin Tones, 16 fl oz:

I can't understand why people are complaining about the scent of this lotion. I am very sensitive to all fragrances--nearly everything I purchase is frangrance-free, from personal to household products (even masking fragrances, contained in products labeled "unscented," bother me). The scent is very slight and very natural; it smells exactly like shea butter. The consistency is similar, too--a rich, thick lotion/creme, which I love because I have very dry skin. I chose the "light" shade, since I have light-to-med skin, and I thought the medium might make me look too tan or be difficult to spread evenly. I got it to use primarily on my legs, which don't get much sun. I wanted to even them out with the rest of my body. Well, for me (maybe I'm not as fair as I think I am!), it took A WHILE to see any results. I applied it twice a day for four days before I noticed any differece. Then, a nice, natural glow started to appear. After a week, I've gone down to one application every other day to maintain the glow. Now my legs match and I'm excited to wear skirts and shorts this year. I haven't had any promlems at all with unevenness. I apply it once I dry off from the shower. Being that I have dry skin, it absorbs immediately. My skin loves it. I rinse my hands thoroughly after application (just water, no soap) and dry them well; I haven't had any yellowing of my palms. A good tip a got from other reviews was to exfoliate prior to application. I exfoliate about once a week. This helps the product cover/absorb evenly. Another tip is to first apply a regular lotion to darker/dryer areas, such as kneecaps, rough spots, toes, etc., so the glow lotion doesn't absorb as quickly into those areas. I may switch to the medium if I decide I want more of a tan than just "glow," but it's nice to be able to apply the light version often because of its moisturizing properties alone. As long as they don't make any changes to this product (like fiddling with the fragrance--please, Nature's Gate, just leave it as is!) I can see myself using this for a long time!
