I have tried many self tanners through the years in every price range. I have been very disappointed. Many have made my sensitive skin itch terribly. This does not. The color it gives is very natural. I just snap on some disposable gloves after a shower and put this on. It goes on smoothly and does not streak. The smell is not great nor is it bad. It is a fairly mild scent. I really am pleased with this product and will continue to use it.

I would only recommend this because of the more favorable scent and because it's more natural & eco friendly. It does dry quickly but I found that it streaks and it seems as if it almost doesn't "take" in some spots. My husband noticed it immediately. And I took care to make sure I covered all areas. I actually couldn't wait for it to fade & wash off in the shower because I was so embarassed to walk outside and have everyone see this awful orange tan. I was not impressed with it. Out of fairness to the product maybe I should've tried the light since I'm fair skinned but I used the medium because some people were saying the light didn't even show up.

The smell is not good, strong enough the when someone is close they notice it, have to be very careful when applying to get it on very even or it blotches. I does have a very good color to it and dries quickly.

This is one of the few all natural self tanning lotions out there. I would say it doesn't give as much a glow as some of the other tanners on the market. Meaning the ones with all the chemicals. It does give a very subtle glow (maybe because I'm medium to dark skintoned) but I'll take that instead of a more intense color with chemicals. I personally don't notice a scent with this. If there is one, it's very mild and not bad at all. Delivery from drugstore.com was very efficient as usual, and the product was wrapped securely and in perfect condition.

This is a truly excellent self tanner.I have used every major brand of tanner.Clarins is the best but also three times as expensive as this one.More importantly,this brand does not test on animals.

Overall, good product that I would use again and recommend to others. I'd never used a self tanner before, and the reviews I'd read for other products scared the hell out of me - with this there was no excessive body "prep", staining of sheets/clothes/hands/ankles/elbow, orange/streaking, etc. This gave good natural color. I do exfoliate in the shower daily, so that helped with areas that I'd put too much on (knees, ankles) but in no way were these patches wildly obvious. I washed my hands afterward and there was no palm staining. It did not rub onto clothing or towels, and dries quickly. The color is subtle and natural, so if you're looking to be a deep bronze a la Jersey Shore, this is not for you. I use other Nature's Gate products (love that they're cruelty free) and this is good quality as well. I use it everyday and it's given me color in my legs which don't tan in the sun. One drawback is smell - it smells a little like play-dough, but it's very light and easily masked (sounds like all of these products have a bad smell to them, and this is much better than the standard plastic self-tanner smell). This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars, but debated on giving it 5. I would definitely recommend, and if it's not dark enough for you, you can always upgrade to the industrial stuff :)

I have used other self tanning products but this one is really good. You can skip a day and it won't start to fade or rub off. NO orange color. Good moisturizer too. Need to give it time to dry however.

I mostly want to warn seasoned ST users not to try the medium version if you pale to light/medium range as it will turn out orange on you. Using a medium ST is a trick us pale folk have used to get a deeper tan but you can't do that with this. Below is my review for the light version though as I think it will be the same for a medium toned person.

The light version of this is AMAZING on my NC10 skin – it has been my holy grail lotion for several months now!!! I picked this up on a whim. I have used sunless tanner on and off for a while when I saw this so I figured why not. I have tried 'glow' lotions from other drugstore brands in the past and hated them. This one however gives you a natural healthy radiant glow. One of my favorite things with this is that I don't need to pay careful attention to how I apply it. I just slap it on like a regular lotion and it comes out flawless - unlike the time it takes for STs. I don't feel like this product makes me appear any darker really, just makes my skin look beautiful with a peachy tone to it. (Though it will literally darken you because I have to use a different color foundation when I wear it (I go from NC10 to NC20, I just don't think its dark enough for someone to ask you if you got sun or anything). However, I find that even though this doesn't make me dark it still makes me look healthier and prettier than ST's so it's still a winner for me. The color lasts for a pretty long time too - about 3 - 4 days for one application except for my face. It comes off of my face every night when I wash it so I have to apply it nightly but that's no different than any ST I use either. It will layer so you can build it darker if you want, you just won't get super tan with it. I wouldn't say this product smells good but its very light. I just make sure I wash in the morning (I use this at night before bed) then put on a great smelling lotion afterwards. Oh! I have also had no staining of clothes with this!

There are three surprising results I saw with this that I did not expect. 1) It evens out my blotchy skin tone, especially around my mouth where it's naturally darker. 2) It helps calm my mild rosacea when it flares. 3) It actually helps my acne calm down some. I don't know why it does these things as most lotions actually irritate my rosacea and my acne is typically a pain in the butt either way you slice it. This might be unique to me, but I love love love this stuff for that! I actually feel I can go out without foundation when I use it!! :) I hope this works for you too!

I have pretty fair skin and freckles. I use this in combination with the Alba Botinica Self Tanning lotion. I use the Alba once a week, and use the Nature's Gate about 3 times a week to build and maintain a glow. This lotion works great. A mild, natural looking glow, not orange. It smells kind of spicy, and does not make you stink like other self tanners. It moisturizes well. You do need to apply carefully, as you will streak if you are not thourough.Take extra care around your wrists and ankles. Make sure you let it dry for a few minutes before dressing, it will stain your clothes. I apply it and then put on my bathrobe, which doesn't show the stains, and then get dressed around 10 minutes later.
