When my head feels like someone opened up the top and poured in concrete, I realize that I'm headed for a sinus infection, if not already there. I immediately start taking 3 Fenugreek-Thyme capsules 3x/day (that's 9 a day). Fenugreek is very moisturizing to the mucous membranes, and Thyme helps to break up congestion. In addition, at least once a day, I use my Neti Pot. The Neti Pot is normally filled with warm water with a pinch of salt dissolved in, but when I feel really congested/possibly infected, I also put a trace of Tea Tree Oil onto my finger and stir it into the warm salt water (but just a trace!). The anti-fungal property of Tea Tree Oil helps tremendously to clear up the irritation. I have never experienced any side-effects in the 20 or so years that I've been doing this, but if you have a very sensitive stomach, take the capsules with food. This regime works exceptionally well, and you will start to feel relief in about 24 hours-3 days. That's alot better than the shotgun approach of taking antibiotics, which most of the time don't work on this problem at all!
