My endocrinologist recommended it for my high cholesterol and he mentioned it would lower my blood sugar and help that too. I'm using less insulin. Daily blood sugar checks have shown my numbers are down, in my case it is a 10-20 number point drop in fasting and after meals. I follow a very good diet though by counting carbs and upping fiber content in foods I eat. I need to wait 3 months for labs to check my cholesterol levels again but I'm confident it will help. It is an India spice that has been around 2000 years so it is safe with the recommended dose, I feel. Hope this info helps you.

Bad side effects w/Nature's Way
I know that herbal supplements are not regulated very well, but there's something totally weird with whatever fillers/additives are in the Nature's Way fenugreek capsules.

I've taken the GNC brand fenugreek to promote lactation with no problems. It increased my milk supply with no side effects. However, the Nature's Way brand caused me multiple bad side effects. By far the worst was aching genitals. (I'm not kidding.) I felt like I was swollen and burning "down there." I wonder if they have added some sort of hormone to try to increase its potency as a lactation stimulant. The second side effect was hard stools (also uncomfortable, but nothing compared to the first side effect).
I threw away about 150 capsules and went to GNC and resumed buying their brand. Good riddance!

Comments about Nature's Way Fenugreek Seed 610 mg, Capsules, 180 ea:
The product is great for increasing your breast milk supply and the value is off the charts! I had previously bought a bottle at a big chain store for just a little more than one bottle from drugstore.com, but with half the pills! I was so happy to have found drugstore.com and its great values!
The only not-so-great thing about the pills is that they are a bit large and smell like maple syrup, but you're going to find that with fenugreek pills where ever you might buy them.

I got this to help boost my milk supply. It didn't work for me, but I have heard that it has worked for many. I am thinking about trying it again though.

I had started breast feeding and wanted to give these a shot. I am pleasantly surprised. It really works. My milk output has increased by 40% in a matter for 3-4 days.

Take 2 capsules two to three times daily, preferably with food.
One of the world’s oldest medicinal herbs, Fenugreek has been used by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, and has a variety of uses. Nature’s Way Fenugreek Seed Capsules (610mg) are often used to help increase the milk supply for mothers who are breastfeeding**. Fenugreek seeds can serve a number of other purposes as well. When ground, the seeds are roasted and used to flavor curry. They can also be used as an aphrodisiac** as well as a natural way to increase the libido in men**. Taken internally, Fenugreek has been known to help treat coughs, bronchitis, respiratory and sinus problems. The jury is still out on how exactly Fenugreek helps stimulate milk supply. The seeds contain hormone precursors that help increase milk supply, and It is also thought that because the breasts are modified sweat glands, fenugreek helps stimulate sweat production, which, in turn, stimulates milk production.
- Can help stimulate milk production for women who are breastfeeding.**
- Used for generations to help treat some respiratory problems.**
