My doctor recommended these "vitamins" for me - she pointed out that there is a current study being conducted to figure out effectiveness for long term use on eyes. She seemed to think that the study would show that older people should take these.

I can't tell a difference since I don't know what will happen with my eyes...and I have reasonable good vision for my age...so time will tell.

Having sight in just one eye I am very proactive in keeping my other eye healthy. My opthomologist recommended taking lutein daily. At 70 I have not had a prescription change in two years. and the docotor says everything looks good and healthy and to keep taking. And I shall.

I used to get lightning flashes in one or both eyes from cornea tearing. Since I've taken Lutein 20 mg dosage daily it never happens.
