I thought it might burn the way it does when pool water gets into the sinus cavity, but thankfully it's not bad at all. I just relaxed, was mindful of my mouth breathing and didn't even notice it was running out when it started to happen. My symptoms felt better even before I was finished and continued to improve. Several hours later, my nose is still clear. I just wanted relief from a congested nose due to allergies and it surpassed my expectations. My sense of smell hasn't been this good since I can remember...I've been going around smelling everything pleasant (like flowers, mints, etc) just because it's so nice. =) VS Most Liked Negative Review plastic one easier to use than porcelain I think Neti pots are really wonderful. Great for colds, seasonal allergies, and sinus irritation. They are doing construction in my building at work and all the particles in the air are causing me to sneeze, have runny itchy eyes, and have a funny taste in my mouth. The neti pot washes away all away and my head is clear again. I love it. Please note however that this porcelain version is harder to use than the plastic one (I have both). The lid doesn't seal tightly and is kind of hard to remove; the pot is heavier and breakable too. The plastic is much more convenient and light weight. I think metal or pyrex glass would be ideal... anyway, try a neti pot, it really does work. Cons Best Uses Comments about NeilMed Porcelain Neti Pot, 1.52 oz: If you use a neti pot regularly, this is the best way to go. Ordered two - one for my husband and one for me. The plastic pots indicate that they should be replaced about every 3 months. This ceramic pot can be used indefinitely. In addition, it can be placed in the dishwasher. Only thing we don't like is the tiny little knob on the lid. It's very small and awkward to use, but overall this is still better than the plastic pots. We have been using neti pots for about 4 months now, and are very happy with the results. Lots of dirt and allergens in the Phoenix air, and usage helps clear congested. In addition, neither of us has had a cold this year. I was skeptical about using neti pots, but allergies were so bad, I tried it. It worked, and I am now a faithful user. Comments about NeilMed Porcelain Neti Pot, 1.52 oz: I have had less sinus infections and upper respiratory problems with daily use of a different netti pot in the shower. I have a smaller plastic one that I use for travel and bought this to use at home when I needed saline packet refills. Don't like the fact that it spills out the top when tilting. Also don't like to use glass in the shower. No response from this company on coupon requests or refunds advertised. I like the plastic one I bought over a year ago better than this one I am trying now. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about NeilMed Porcelain Neti Pot, 1.52 oz: I have lived a lifetime with season allergies. Nothing new when I arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan. The dust, pollution, smog and pollen were in tolerable. My nose was running, I woke up stuffed up, I had nose bleeds and everyone was sick and tired of my sniffling and blowing my nose. The allergy medication I had been switched to wasn't working. After 5 days of using the Neti pot twice a day I am clear. Cons
Best Uses Comments about NeilMed Porcelain Neti Pot, 1.52 oz: I think neti pots are great, but I recommend skipping the porcelain model and buying the plastic one. The plastic neti pot has a screw on lid. While it doesn't work perfectly, it works much better than the porcelain model which doesn't screw in at all. Without a tight seal, salt water would flow through around the lid and down my face when using the porcelain model. I had bought it assuming it would be better than the plastic one because it was more expensive. Nope. It's just heavier.
