It goes on so smoothly compared to the visibly lotion one that I used for about 3 years. This one is not sticky at all, and when you wear it under makeup it looks really flawless. I am surprised that it got so many bad reviews because its actually not bad at all. Maybe some people just use too much of it, which can definitely make your skin greasy, but thats just common sense. And everyone's skin is different so it just takes time to find the right product for you, and this one is mine. I sleep in make up fairly often and I use drug store brands most of the time. But still, even in my teens, there's never been a single time that I've thought I've really had a "break out". I've been using this product for about 10 years and it's a very light moisturizer that's quickly absorbed into my skin. The only downside is that is only 15 spf, so it has to be followed by sunscreen. Unfortunately SPF 15 was not enough, I wouldn't visibly show a sunburn, but the next day I would start peeling for several days afterward (after the initial break in of the Retin-A). This was frequent on overcast Seattle summer days. It felt like I wasn't wearing SPF at all. Plus, I still have oily skin, so this didn't work well under make up at all. It claims to be oil free, but it made my face feel really greasy and slimy. In fact, I couldn't wear any foundation after I put it on; it practically slid off my face. And I was even living in a dry, desert climate when I tried it. It also made my eyes sting like crazy pretty much all day. It is a LOT cheaper and does not make my combo skin oily or dry. I love that it has a SPF 15 in it. I think the SPF is better than most face lotions because I was in the sun all day, and did not get burned. I didn't notice any shiny skin and it rubs in well.
