Why it's great: This is the acne cream I keep coming back to. I am 30 years old and have had acne since I was a preteen. I've tried everything - Accutane, Retin-A, antibiotics, birth control pills, philosophie, Proactive, Oxy 10, Clearasil, you name it.
This stuff works because it kills the bacteria that cause acne but the dose of benzoyl peroxide is low enough that it does not overdry and irritate the skin if used properly.
How to use: I use with a mild soap like Cetaphil. DON'T COMBINE THIS WITH HARSH CLEANSERS/OTHER ACNE MEDICATIONS. I use it all over my face at night and I apply to the few zits I actually have in the morning. Make sure your SKIN IS COMPLETELY DRY AFTER CLEANSING before you apply it because otherwise it can cause redness and irritation. Give it a few days/weeks to start working because it will take some time for the dead skin to be exfoliated. During this time it is possible that you may get a few more breakouts than usual. Don't give up though, it should work if you follow my instructions. And USE A MOISTURIZER WITH SUNSCREEN DURING THE DAY.
IMPORTANT - Also, USE WHITE LINENS - towels and sheets/pillowcases - because it will bleach fabric. That is really the only major problem, in my opinion.

This product will work for me at first for a few weeks and then it will suddenly stop working. My skin is just like that when it comes to ance medications. It will build up a tolerance and then the product will be ineffective. I would have to buy this once every 3 months or so in order to be constent with it, or I'd have to use it for a few weeks, switch to something else, and then switch back. Which is probably only adding to the acne that I'm trying to get rid of. But its inexpensive, and I trust this Neutrogena so I don't mind going back to it.

I used a small amount of this product once on my chin before bed and overnight it was already bothering me. It left a burning feeling and also dried out my skin badly (almost immediately), it felt as if someone was pulling my skin very tight then it started to itch. It also left a huge red burn mark where I put it on. I'd rather have the acne spot! It's now day four and the problems I explained are finally going away. Thankfully I only put it on once and only a small amount.

I tried a lot of different spot treatments. This one is great. I have the little tub in my purse and if I feel an irritated spot I just put it on. It takes the sting out and takes care of it. Even if you put on top of make up. Will buy again when needed.

Although this does not burn your skin like Oxy, it does not clear up your skin either. It just sort of sits on your face ineffectively. I was surprised because I love neutrogena products such as their cleanser and makeup remover cloths.

Works effectively for a mild case of acne. Wash your face first before application. Wait to dry and leave it. Apply 2-3 times a day. It takes 3-4 days before acne disappears.

I really like this brand. But all it did was dry my skin out and i still had my blemishes. It did reduce the redness but thats about it folks. Good luck.

I am a 60- year- old woman who still has acne - yes, 60. I have tried absolutely everything and this is good stuff. It doesn't dry your skin out-and just don't apply more than once a day at most. Take an extra minute or two to blend in thoroughly and can wear out. It does seem to minimize the appearance of pores .

i've been using this product for 2 weeks now and i really like it. It does not irritate my skin at all. I apply it 2-3 times a day and the skin seems to dry a little bit. Which is good, because if my skin stays oily, blemishes will never go away. It seems to be more effective against some break-outs and has no effect on the others, I still have not figured out the reason for that. But overall, I'm satisfied with the product.
