Why it's great: This is the acne cream I keep coming back to. I am 30 years old and have had acne since I was a preteen. I've tried everything - Accutane, Retin-A, antibiotics, birth control pills, philosophie, Proactive, Oxy 10, Clearasil, you name it.
This stuff works because it kills the bacteria that cause acne but the dose of benzoyl peroxide is low enough that it does not overdry and irritate the skin if used properly.
How to use: I use with a mild soap like Cetaphil. DON'T COMBINE THIS WITH HARSH CLEANSERS/OTHER ACNE MEDICATIONS. I use it all over my face at night and I apply to the few zits I actually have in the morning. Make sure your SKIN IS COMPLETELY DRY AFTER CLEANSING before you apply it because otherwise it can cause redness and irritation. Give it a few days/weeks to start working because it will take some time for the dead skin to be exfoliated. During this time it is possible that you may get a few more breakouts than usual. Don't give up though, it should work if you follow my instructions. And USE A MOISTURIZER WITH SUNSCREEN DURING THE DAY.
IMPORTANT - Also, USE WHITE LINENS - towels and sheets/pillowcases - because it will bleach fabric. That is really the only major problem, in my opinion.

This product will work for me at first for a few weeks and then it will suddenly stop working. My skin is just like that when it comes to ance medications. It will build up a tolerance and then the product will be ineffective. I would have to buy this once every 3 months or so in order to be constent with it, or I'd have to use it for a few weeks, switch to something else, and then switch back. Which is probably only adding to the acne that I'm trying to get rid of. But its inexpensive, and I trust this Neutrogena so I don't mind going back to it.

I really like this brand. But all it did was dry my skin out and i still had my blemishes. It did reduce the redness but thats about it folks. Good luck.

I am a 60- year- old woman who still has acne - yes, 60. I have tried absolutely everything and this is good stuff. It doesn't dry your skin out-and just don't apply more than once a day at most. Take an extra minute or two to blend in thoroughly and can wear out. It does seem to minimize the appearance of pores .

i've been using this product for 2 weeks now and i really like it. It does not irritate my skin at all. I apply it 2-3 times a day and the skin seems to dry a little bit. Which is good, because if my skin stays oily, blemishes will never go away. It seems to be more effective against some break-outs and has no effect on the others, I still have not figured out the reason for that. But overall, I'm satisfied with the product.

I was sitting at my office desk yesterday when I realized I had pain on my chin and couldn't believe it. Even on BC pills i had gotten a hormonal cystic zit! those suckers usually take weeks to heal. So, I read the reviews on here and ran out and bought a tube, I have been applying at night and during the day at work. Nothing works miracles but it does feel soothing, that's for sure and it seems to be helping shrink the zit without over drying which is a first. I think I will be adding this as a regular to my facial routine from now on. It's good stuff

Ok, so I'm a 15 year old guy and have had moderate acne for a while. Acne has always been on of the things i have been most self conscious of as I get older, especially when I see other teens without any acne at all!! Seriously sometimes I just want to go up and be like "How come your skin is so clear??" Anyway I first found this product in my brothers bathroom and he was Accutane at the time so he didnt need it.
I started using it and at first I really was not amazed I put it on and it seemed to help reduce redness and it also gave my skin a nice matte look. I repurchased it again and before I was using Tea Tree Oil as my main form of acne control, and while it was very effective it make my skin very dry, red and irritated. I started using this in larger amounts spreading about 1 pea sized amount over my problem areas (mainly my chin upper lip and nose). I applied 3 times a day and sometimes more and I began to see a drastic change in my acne. While of course this did come with some flaking and some dry skin it really did not bother me because it was nothing that a tiny bit of moisturizer could not fix. This product is amazing and its totally reasonable price for the effectiveness of the product. I would recommend everyone at least try this product.

I have recently switched all my beauty products to Neutrogena and love this acne cream. Typically things dry out my skin horribly and I have not had any problems with this. It takes away the redness and my acne is finally going away. LOVE IT!!

This is the only product I have found that does not dry my skin out and work wonders!! I have used this product since my 20's and am now in my 50's and would and have recommend this to teenagers and adults alike! I use it right after washing my face just before applying makeup! I LOVE this stuff!! If you have teenagers or kids with acne, get this and don't waste your money on expensive products like merle norman or other high price nonsense. You may want to use Seabreeze to make sure pores are clean after washing face before applying. You won't regret using it. IT WORKS!!!
