If your skin is not used to Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) or Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) please note that they are just that – acids, and they will irritate the skin causing an uncomfortable burning and/or stinging sensation, initially leaving your skin looking a bit red, like you've been slapped. It does a good job of removing leftover traces of makeup after washing my face and it makes you skin feel incredibly smooth and soft. However after using this for about 3 weeks, my skin is becoming very sensitive to it. It has started to make my skin literally sting after use, especially around my cheek area and forehead. I have not changed anything about my skin routine so this is a really big let down. Will not be repurchasing! It definitely burns. I didn't find it to be strongly fragranced as another review I read. However, I thought it was drying my skin too much and actually causing acne breakout because of it. May be possible to use it once in a while, but maybe not every day if you have sensitive skin. I had to stop using it, but I may use it once in a while. I use it before I apply benzoyl peroxide prophylactically as part of my acne clearing regimen, and it truly works. When I first started using it, it did sting and burn slightly, but after 2 days, my skin developed a tolerance (not resistance) to it. If you use benzoyl peroxide to prevent pimples, I suggest applying this after your cleanser, then wait 10 minutes, then use bp. If you are going in the sun, follow-up with oil free sunblock that as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as active ingredients, (not avabenzone, which is comedogenic). It leaves my skin feelin refreshed and clean, and is great for getting the last traces of makeup and the day's grime off. I was breaking out with a bumpy forehead and large pores around my nose; changing makeup brands and using this have made my skin the clearest it's been in years. That really isn't a good sign. Although I won't be buying it again and should discontinue use of it immediately, I use it every once in a while if I am having a bad skin day. It tightens things right up and helps smooth out rough areas before I put on moisturizer and makeup. The smell is strong. Instead of a tingly feeling, it felt like my face was on fire. If that wasn't bad enough, the oil in it clogged my pores and made me break out. Your money can be better spent. But when my back and chest broke out, I used this and my skin cleared up in about two days. And because it exfoliates, it also minimized the skin discoloration that acne usually leaves behind. I don't think it's anything special. I've noticed no difference in my pores or blackheads or anything really. Not a bad product, but nothing different than other items on the market. He advised me to use Alpha Hydroxy. So following my Doctors orders, I purchased the Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser and Toner with Alpha and Beta Hydroxy. And as of today after using this product for about 1 month, I can no longer see the sun damage at the end of my nose. Not only does my face feel cleaner but it also cleared up some minor acne I had. I highly recommend this product. BHA is salicylic acid, the anti-inflammatory ingredient in aspirin. Excellent for daily use to soothe and exfoliate skin between glycolic peels, and awesome to use right after eyebrow waxing - soothes the angry red skin and prevents any reaction/inflammation. Hate the smell, but love the effects, so I deal with it. I have very oily skin prone to blackheads that requires daily exfoliation. This stuff cleans and refines open pores wonderfully, but blackheads are impurities trapped in closed-over pores. Use a scrub to open the pores and dig out the impurities, then use this Toner to soothe and refine. I use this along with the pore refining cleanser also from Neutrogena and they have both worked to minimize the pores. My face is also smooth and clear. I now have my daughter who is a teen using it, and I notice a big difference. Not only is it clearing up her skin, but the old scars on her face seem to be getting less noticeable. The only drawback is it doesnt seem to do much for the blackheads. Good product though! Displaying reviews 91-100
