If your skin is not used to Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) or Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) please note that they are just that – acids, and they will irritate the skin causing an uncomfortable burning and/or stinging sensation, initially leaving your skin looking a bit red, like you've been slapped. It does a good job of removing leftover traces of makeup after washing my face and it makes you skin feel incredibly smooth and soft. However after using this for about 3 weeks, my skin is becoming very sensitive to it. It has started to make my skin literally sting after use, especially around my cheek area and forehead. Gets any excess makeup or cleanser off. Doesn't seem to dry my face too much and does not have a strong odor. Pros

Comments about Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner, Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Formula, 8.5 fl oz: I think this would work for most all skin types, I use this toner and first I use the face srub with the alpha and beta hydroxy in it. I read the alpha hydroxy is used to clear the surface of the skin...(dead skin cells and dirt) and the beta hydroxy is used to get deep down into the poor to kick out white and blackheads. I had combination dry-oily skin with semi-large pores, and develop a lot of blackheads and sometimes whiteheads. The only thing that helps keep these away...is I use an abrasive srub..St. Ives apricot and then the neutrogena scrub and toner...my skin has a glow and my black and whiteheads aren't as frequent now. My pores have also shrunk down a lot...(my nose and cheeks were the worst) Also if you do try this, you will want to stick with it for a few months, because these products do draw out all the gunk from your pores, so you will look like you are breaking out for a while, but then it will dwindle down as long as you keep up with it. Also I don't have to use as much, if any...moisturizer because this draws the skins natural Sebum Oil out. Pros

While it does a great job of cleaning out excess make-up, it dried out my skin, made it break out in small pimples, and made it red across my cheeks. I would not recommend this product... unless you use it only twice a week. Pros

At first it may seem like it isn't working, but if it is used on a regular basis (once in the morning and at night), your skin will start to illuminate. it leaves this soothingly soft feeling on your face as if it is moisturized. overall, i am very pleased by this product as it has actually refined my pores, and made me look younger. i have been using this for over a year, and will keep doing so. however, the only con about this that i find is that it is a bit expensive.
