My children (8 and 11) are regular users of the Neutrogena Pure and Free Baby sunblock lotion and the same formulation but differently named Neutrogena Sensitive Skin sunblock. We keep the Pure and Free baby stick on hand for lip, nose and tops of ears.

This sunscreen is best used
1) swiped on to nose, cheeks, lips, ears
2) no need to rub in. yes, it'll be streaky and leave a white cast but that's typically the trade off with the more protective mineral sunscreen.
3)rubbing it in is an exercise in frustration.....

If used and applied correctly, the stick version of the Neutrogena Pure and Free baby gives excellent UVB protection and moderate UVA protection. The SPF is a measure of UVB protection only. PPD measurs UVA and is probably around 10 in the stick version; significantly higher in the lotion versions.

CAUTION: Remember that all sunscreen use effectively blocks Vitamin Dproduction in your skin by blocking UVB from penetrating your skin. Windows, water and shade also block vitamin d production by blocking UVB. The non-profit Vitamin D Council is the best place to get evidence based Vitamin D information. I have no affiliation.

I put a small amount of the sunblock on my daughters legs while at the beach yesterday. Within 5 minutes she started getting very fussy and inconsolable. I thought maybe she was hungry...but then I noticed her legs started getting splotchy and red. I tried washing the sunblock off with some baby shampoo, and her legs continued to get more red and even slightly purple at this point and she was screaming/crying in pain. I had to bring her to the aquatics director, he called 911 and we were rushed to the ER. She was fine once we got home from the hospital, but it was VERY SCARY! This sunblock claimed to be all natural and very pure, however my daughter had a serious allergic reaction to it. So I just wanted to let other parents know.

I purchased this product because it contained both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide which is recommended for the best sun protection. I use it daily over my make-up on my face and neck. I purchased one to keep in my car and on my motorcycle. Goes on well and no smell. LOVE IT!

Comments about Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunblock SPF 60+, Stick, .47 oz:

I'm no parent but I use this sunblock on my face because it's literally the only sweat- and water-resistant product I have found on the market that is free of chemical sunscreens and has the recommended concentration of sunblocks for full spectrum UV protection. (The similarly designed but differently formulated Pure & Free Baby Sunblock LOTION does not have enough of either Titanium or Zinc to be worth your cash)

When i'm outside and active, it doesn't run. It's not exactly a bargain but that's why I only use it on my face.

Also, for being a sunblock, it blends *relatively* well. Being fair skinned, I can blend it more easily but it's never imperceptible when it's on my face. But honestly as long as I'm protecting myself against skin cancer, I don't care if I have a little whiteness on my face!

This is a great product to drop in your diaper bag. I give my son the cap to hold (and occupy him) while I quickly streak on the sunscreen when we're out. Once applied, my hands are not greasy nor is the sunscreen dripping into his eyes.

Very smooth and easy to apply. True, it goes on white when applied, but make sure to smooth with your fingers to blend into skin. This then makes the skin very clean, clear and smooth! I actually do not need foundation, just a finishing mineral powder. My pores and red patches are smoothened, my skin is almost perfect, especially with the powder. Just make sure to blend/smooth onto skin after. My mom is 65 and loves it too! I even use it on my eyelids.
