No matter how great or expensive or daily shampoo is, you need something to wash off the residues it leaves (even a $50 shampoo leaves residues) and that's the point of this shampoo. You can notice that when you start using a new shampoo it works out better on your hair, than a few weeks later. That's because you need to clean the residues off, so you either need another shampoo to use every 2-3 days, or you need a deep cleanser (which is the case of this one) VS Most Liked Negative Review Decent.. My hair looks clean and healthy after using the shampoo, and doesn't seem to be dry even though I did not use any conditioner. As for the smell: yes, it is strong, but I don't mind it at all, it's not aggressive or medical at all, more of a strong, actually fresh soapy smell. I had to use it several days in a row once and it dried out my hair like straw, even when followed with conditioner. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned the sharp, very strong scent of this shampoo. I thought Neutrogena used to make a fragrance free version of this? I like Neutrogena products but hate their weird trademark scent. I have been recently battling with trying to keep my scalp clean and free of product residue, and this shampoo really works. I usually do two rounds of washing- I use it in conjunction with Neutrogena T-Sal Shampoo which helps clean up scalp build-up and I'm extremely happy with both products. After two applications with my normal shampoo, my hair was still not clean. So I went out and purchased a bottle of this, and one application completely cleaned my hair without making it dry at all. I've tried other so-called "clarifying" shampoos before, but this is by far the best. However, I have to take off one star for the smell--it has that very strong Neutrogena smell and it lingers in your hair for days afterwards. So I can't use this as a weekly clarifying shampoo, but I will definitely keep a bottle on hand for the day after any time I get my hair professionally styled. I have fine, wavy, color treated (highlights and lowlights) hair. This makes it silky and shiny, does not wash out my color. I use it about once a week because my regular shampoo and conditioner are heavy on the moisture. I think is really the best residue remover out there. Regular shampoos do not wash away the build-up as good as this one does. It cleans the heavy hair wax even at the first wash. With other shampoo, I shampoo my hair twice to get rid of the hair wax completely. I used it almost everyday. I will say that it is medium-to-strong fragranced, but leaves a pleasant scent afterward. Its very unique and it does not make me smell like candies or fruits like other shampoos. The only bad thing I could say about it is that it could make my hair dry during winter time. While the shampoo does a mediocre job of removing residue (something any other shampoo does) it smelled awful, left my hair dry, and didn't lather well at all. I like most of Neutrogena's products but I don't see the appeal to this one at all, plus it's expensive. Displaying reviews 71-80
