Living in Southern CA with pale, sensitive, combination skin is a challenge! For years I've worn a SPF 15 daily moisturizer on my face and added a hat when out for long midday exposure, but still, at 43 the sun effects are really showing. I've spent the last 2 or 3 years trying products in the SPF 30-60 range and this is the best I've found so far.

So many "new" formulas, including the Neutrogena lines with Helioplex, go on smoothly and seem great for the first day, but then I develop an incredible itch everywhere the cream touched, particularly on my neck, that lasts for days! After trying a few brands/formulas all labeled for sensitive skin, I've concluded it must be the newer sunscreen chemicals. I had resorted to "old school" high-factor sunscreens when I knew I was going to be outside for a long time. Every one that I tried that didn't irritate instead left my face feeling greasy and looking shiny. Also, after a full day I would have white-head blemishes from clogged pores. Nothing more fun than zits in your 40's!

When I saw this product at the store and noticed the "original formula" label I took a shot. It's WONDERFUL! It goes on smoothly and adsorbs quickly. It does go on with a white cast from the sunscreens, but that completely disappears almost immediately. I've found I actually like the white cast for feedback during application - I can see that I've gotten full coverage while I'm applying it, but then it's gone. I've worn it several times for outdoor events with lots of sun exposure and it delivers: no sunburn, even on the nose or under the eyes, no shine, no breakouts, no itching and no hat-head! Thank you Neutrogena! This is the first review I've written, but this product motivated me. Please keep serving the truly "sensitive skin" market.

I bought this because it's fragrance-free and offers good protection for sensitive skin. First, I applied a tinted self-tanner all over my face and then I applied this sunscreen on half of my face and on the other half I put Neutrogena's Face Shield Sunscreen, which is also fragrance-free. I did this because there were some reviews that these two products leave a white film on your skin, so after using both, this Sensitive Skin sunscreen made me look pale even after I had applied the tinted self-tanner!! But the Neutrogena Face Shield sunscreen was less noticeable and did not leave my face feeling greasy, so I returned the Sensitive Skin one and kept the Face Shield sunscreen! I recommend this if you're sensitive and you want a Physical sunblock & don't mind the white film, otherwise, go with the Face Shield (the one that's unscented)!!

Great Sunscreen for Dry Skin!

By

Comments about Neutrogena Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60, 3 fl oz:

Great for my dry skin! All the negative reviews surprise me, and I highly recommend everyone try this and not base thier decision on the problems some people have had with this product. This is moisturizing for me, and does not feel heavy or mask like, even when layered over other moisturizers. It blends in well, and does not leave a noticable white cast on this mans face. And I use a full 1/4 teaspoon, as you should for good coverage with mineral sunscreens. Formula lasts all day, and has no odor, and has antioxidants, including vitamin C. I will definitely repurchase and continue using!

Comments about Neutrogena Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60, 3 fl oz:

My daughter is sensitive to sunscreens, so I was hoping this would work for her. She broke out with a very bad rash everywhere she applied this sunscreen.

My face and arms look leathery and bumpy!

Comments about Neutrogena Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60, 3 fl oz:

Used the sensitive skin 30 before going out doors. Six minutes later, before even heading out, my face became red and felt hot and itchy. I washed it off right away, but my face and arms are left with leathery, bumpy and feels dry and scaly! It has been two weeks since that application and I'm still left with itchy, bumpy leathery irritated skin.

Comments about Neutrogena Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60, 3 fl oz:

I chose this Neutrogena Sensitive Suncreen for my face, neck and chest during a trip to the Caribbean, and since I have sensitive skin, I was hoping it would be gentle. In spite of claiming to be especially formulated for sensitive skin, I broke out in a bumpy, itchy rash AND sunburn, even though I applied generously. The '60' SPF is a joke. Seriously, I think the scientists just threw darts against a wall and said 'let's go with 60.' Meanwhile, I used 30 Coppertone sunscreen on the rest of my body and I didn't burn and didn't breakout in a rash anywhere else. I did go into the water, but under the prescribed 80 minutes. I also reapplied. Days later I still have a bumpy rash. While the front of the bottle has a "100% naturally sourced sunscreen ingredients" claim, it neglects to inform the user that the 'inactive ingredients' make up a laundry list of chemicals, including silica (basically fine sand) and retinyl palmitate (Vitamin A--a known photosensitizer. Worst sunscreen I have ever used--and I used to love Neutrogena products. What went wrong with this one?

I too developed a rash after using this sunscreen on my face and arms during a recent holiday to India. I rash included red raised bumps on my arms and face that were quite itchy. I discontinued using the product and the rash quickly abated and disappeared altogether after a couple of days.

Red rash on V of chest and neck

      By

      from Portland Oregon

Comments about Neutrogena Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60, 3 fl oz:

I bought this for a vacation to AZ. First day there I went in Pool and sat out for about 45 minutes. It protected me from getting sunburned. But I got a red itchy rash on my chest and neck. I kept using it every day but tried to stay out of the sun. On my last day of my 2 week trip I went to the pool again. I kept my chest and neck covered. Now my arms have the red rash. I still have the rash after 2 1/2 weeks on my chest and my arms. I was thinking I might be allergic to the sun. But after reading other reviews I think it might be the sun screen. This is the first time I have gotten this rash.

My skin doctor recommended that I find a sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as the two active ingredients. I was glad to find a Neutrogena version! I have benefited by their products before! I have not used it long enough to know about its effectiveness.
