My husband had a bad cut/gash on arm, so we cleaned it well first and used this, since he's 65, if it had gotten worse we would have gone to a dr. or hospital. But, if you clean the wound-arm, well and use this to keep it clean-in the case we used it, the wound healed nicely and we didn't need to go to the dr. etc.
