(I hate lipstick.) On first opening the tube, I noticed that the stick of balm is actually the same color red as the plastic tube. When I applied it, it went on very smoothly; there was much less drag than with waxier ChapStick. The smell is like cherry hard candy to me, and I like it. I could see how some could liken it to the smell of cough drops. There is no sweetener in the balm, so there's no taste or sweetness when you lick your lips. And the color! I love the color on my lips! On me it's a very natural shade of rose, like me but better. The tint is so subtle that I think the reviewers who claimed this gave them clown lips must really be smearing it on. I've rubbed a lot in to see if I could get clown lips, and I couldn't! The color is nicely buildable: the first application gives me the barest color for everyday wear, the second gives me more, and the third is what I like best: a beautiful rose red that defines my lips.I also love the finish: it is not quite matte, as there is an attractive, ultra-slight sheen to the lips. The feel is not greasy or sticky at all; my hair does not stick to my lips when I am driving in a car with the windows open (as it does with Lip Smacker, which I love nevertheless for the great flavors). Also great is that this lip balm contains no FD&C colorings. I wear this 24 hours a day. I love this stuff! VS Most Liked Negative Review I prefer Passion Fruit Nivea Kiss of.... I was so mad because I love natural look in my make up, and I have a touch of color with this product in my lips, but with this fruity lip care... forget it!!! Nothing of color and a lot of grease. I have read horror stories about glossy lip balms causing cancers, so I really got on the band wagon to find something with an SPF. This formula is smooth and delightful. I use a lip primer, and when I need it to look more like a lipstick I use a nude lip liner. I am so happy with this lip balm that when it is on sale I buy about 3 at a time. I have medium colored olive skin, green eyes and brown hair. I have received soo many compliments on this color that it baffles me that I have spent so much money on other lip treatments before finding this one. It makes your lips look smooth and soft and it gives you just a alight sheen/shimmer when applied. Perfect for me. I love it. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that it doesn't last very long before I am re-applying it, but that's really not a big deal to me since I am used to constantly applying balms, and glosses... Comments about Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Cherry, SPF 10: I was THIS CLOSE to trying Tarte's lip sheer for $16 + shipping when I started a search for other tinted lip balms. I've ordered the Fresh Sugar Rosé lip treatment from [...] before and it didn't really do much for me so I was already kind of turned off to pricey lip products. So I ran into this one, and was curious enough to look for it at the local drugstore. I love it so much! I bought both the Cherry and Strawberry kinds because they were buy one get one 50% off. To me, they both smell great--Strawberry a little more so, but Cherry has more color so for me it's a tie. Unless you have very light lips, I can't possibly fathom why other people have been complaining about the color. It's not too much at all. If you want subtler color go for the Strawberry, but for me, both are subtle unless I really slap it on (and even then, it's still translucent). I don't have dark lips, either. So try this before you go for a more expensive and potentially less effective brand! I was ordering a bunch of Nivea Kiss of Moisture (can't find them in the stores anymore) and thought I'd try this cherry flavor/tinted one. The reviews were either that they loved it or hated it... well I fall in the love it category! I'll definitely be buying more !
